Will conduct one-time exam for 3,765 students who could not complete CUET-UG exam due to technical glitches: NTA

New Delhi: After glitches in CBSE Class 12 and NEET-UG exams, the Common University Entrance Test for undergraduate courses (Cueta-UG) exams were the last to run into trouble, with some students complaining of glitches and delays in the start of exams.

of National Testing Agency (NTA) said the technical glitches were due to the company hired to carry out the work and that it will conduct a one-time exam for the 3,765 students who could not complete the test.

The government was attacked by the opposition, with the Congress leader Rahul Gandhi saying that not a single exam is “conducted honestly” and that all these missteps in CBSE, NEET-UG, SSC and now CUET-UG exams will affect the lives of 1 crore students.

The exams which were supposed to be held on May 28, due to Bakrid, were rescheduled to be held on May 30. The exam was to be held in two shifts, but some complaints have been made on social networks about the interruption of the exams in the first shift.

The NTA, in a statement, was quick to say that Tata Consultancy Services, the company conducting the exams, “reported a technical glitch” that delayed the start of the exams at some centres. It is also said that, due to the delay, the evening shift has been postponed to 16:00 from 15:00.

“Morning session candidates are given the full duration of the paper and can only exit after completing it… The matter has since been resolved and the exam is being conducted with full compensatory time so that no candidate is at a disadvantage. The NTA sincerely regrets the inconvenience caused to students and parents,” she said.

In another statement, the NTA further said that most of the candidates “about 95 percent” were able to complete their examination after resuming examinations. “We understand that 3,765 candidates who were present and had completed the biometric registration chose to leave before the exam resumed. For these candidates, AKT will conduct a rescheduled exam as a one-time measure,” the release said, adding that the new date and details would be announced soon.

The examination body asked students to follow NTA website (nta.ac.in) and CUET-UG portal (cuet.nta.nic.in) for updates and asked students to contact 011-40759000 or cuet-ug@nta.ac.in for assistance.

The examination body has been in the midst of widespread furore after several exams it was supposed to conduct, including the NEET-UG medical entrance tests, CBSE Class 12 board exams, Staff Selection Commission entrance tests and now the university entrance tests, CUET-UG, have faced problems. NEET-UG had to be cancelled.

Gandhi, who has criticized the government on the issue, said the government is incompetent. “Four exams. A million kids. Not a single one conducted honestly. Claims of ‘world guru’ but can’t conduct even one exam in the country – Modi ji has completely destroyed the entire education system… The generation whose future you are destroying – the same generation will hold you accountable,” he posted on X.
