WHO maintains hantavirus rating as ‘low risk’


The WHO said the public risk remains low because hantavirus is usually spread through contact with infected rodents or their droppings, not easily by casual person-to-person exposure. However, officials noted that close contacts of confirmed cases are being tracked because the Andean virus can spread between people in rare, close-contact situations.
