The Public Prosecutor’s Office has recorded the statement of the reporter and has summoned those responsible for the preparation, approval and publication of the report.
Authorities are reviewing their roles, the procedures followed before publication and whether legal and professional standards for verifying information have been respected.
The investigation aims to determine responsibility and identify any required legal action based on the findings.
Retraction and apology do not end the investigation
Dr Al Shamsi said the news agency’s decision to withdraw the report and apologize does not prevent the investigation from continuing.
He added that based on the result of the investigation, legal responsibility will be determined and appropriate actions will be taken in accordance with the law.
