Traveling from the United Arab Emirates?
Thailand continues to rank among the most preferred short-trip destinations for UAE-based Indian travelers, along with Malaysia and Singapore, supported by strong air connectivity and family-friendly tourism options.
Travel operators in the UAE report strong demand for July-August departures, with bookings increasingly tied to school holiday calendars. However, updated entry rules mean travelers are required to double-check visa eligibility, financial proof, hotel reservations and return tickets before confirming travel plans.
The embassy issues 11-point advice
The advisory, issued by the Indian Embassy in Bangkok, asks travelers to ensure that all documentation is complete and valid before departure to avoid delays or problems at immigration.
It comes after Thailand revised its visa-free entry arrangements for Indian passport holders, tightening controls on documentation, financial proof and purpose of travel.
Passport validity and travel proof have become mandatory
According to the embassy, all travelers must have a passport valid for at least six months from the date of arrival in Thailand. Officials warned that insufficient validation could lead to boarding or denied entry.
Travelers are also advised to carry confirmed return tickets, hotel reservations and a clear travel itinerary to support their stated purpose of travel during immigration checks.
The digital arrival form is now required before entry
Travelers must complete the Thailand Digital Arrival Card (TDAC) within 72 hours prior to arrival. The online form generates a QR code that can be searched at immigration counters at the entrance.
The embassy said the step is now mandatory under updated border procedures aimed at streamlining arrival processing.
Visa, money and entry requirements have been tightened
Visitors should apply for the appropriate visa based on the purpose of their visit. Those entering under visa-waiver or visa-on-arrival facilities (VOA) are required to carry at least 20,000 Thai baht (about ₹57,446) per person in cash.
Immigration authorities may also require proof of sufficient funds during entry checks, the advisory added.
The employment and transit warning rules are clarified
The embassy has warned travelers not to use tourist access routes if they have secured employment in Thailand. Such cases require the appropriate work visa prior to travel, as violations may lead to penalties under local immigration laws.
Transit travelers are also advised to carry all onward travel documentation, including valid visas for their final destination, where possible.
