A Chinese-developed girl-rearing simulator has just made its way to PlayStation 5, and it comes with the highest number of trophies of any game on the platform.
There was there have been debates over the years if it’s PlayStation trophies and Xbox achievements good thing or notbut they’re so ingrained in their respective ecosystems that it’s hard to imagine modern gaming without them.
Many people like to be given a list of objectives, and earning each trophy can make you feel like you’ve completely mastered a video game; something to brag about to friends.
However, some games have so many trophies that they can become overwhelming, and a new version of the PlayStation 5 appears to have broken the record for most trophies in any PlayStation game, with 236.
The game in question is Volcano Princess, which comes from Chinese developer Egg Hatcher and is billed as a girl-rearing sim (which is apparently a current genre in China) where you play as a widowed father, though there are some dungeon crawling and role-playing elements, based on the trailer.
It actually launched in 2023 for PC, but was ported to the Xbox Series X/S last year, where it boasts 100 achievements to unlock. For whatever reason, the PlayStation 5 version has more than doubled that amount, according to PSNProfiles.

All but one of the trophies are rated bronze, which are considered the easiest type to unlock. One exception is the platinum you earn from unlocking any other trophies.
Based on a quick summary, it appears that all of these trophies can be earned naturally through the game, such as earning a certain amount of gold or completing specific activities multiple times.
This makes the 100% completion sound less arduous than it might have been, but it would still be quite time-consuming, as some trophies are tied to different romance paths and endings, thus requiring multiple playthroughs.
Regardless, no other PlayStation 5 game has this many trophies… or at least no base game does. If you look List of PSNProfile gamesyou’ll find some games with much higher trophy counts, but that’s because they’re either compilations that include multiple games (such as Tomb Raider I-III Remastered) or have separate trophy counts for DLC and expansions.
Age Of Empires 2: Definitive Editionfor example, there are only 71 trophies, but when you include its 11 DLC packs, the total of balloons is 358. However, nothing compares to Train Sim World 2which has a staggering 411 trophies thanks to its 48 DLC expansions.
As such, it is very easy for Princess Volcano’s track record to be overlooked. There doesn’t even seem to be an official Guinness World Record for the video game with the most trophies on PlayStation, probably because there’s an Xbox game with an even higher number of achievements.
This game is the Xbox One version Halo: The Core Collectionwhich Guinness World Records website credits has had the most achievements in an Xbox video game, 600 to be exact – but that’s due to being in multiple games and getting post-release DLC, so it’s debatable whether it really matters.
Rare Replay has 200 achievements, which is the most of any single Xbox title, though it’s still a compilation of many retro titles.
