It’s the event of the year. The biggest pop star on the planet is ready to tie the knot with him NFL the star engaged in the most romantic setting of all… Madison Square Garden.
Wedding rumors are flying Taylor Swift AND Travis KelceThe rumored upcoming wedding, which is said to take place on the 4th of July.
Insiders are keeping the details under wraps, not giving any hints about the A-list couple’s plans. Yes, we asked.
theirs radio silence doesn’t mean big trucks are circling New YorkThe famous music venue has gone unnoticed.
Of course, it wouldn’t be a Swiftie party without some wild shenanigans, and some fans are convinced it’s all a hoax so she can privately elope elsewhere.
So, between truck drivers wearing Fearless T-shirts and reports of an entire castle being built inside the arena, here’s everything we know about the Swift-Kelce wedding.
Are Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce getting married at Madison Square Garden?
We can say with complete certainty that SOMETHING happening at Madison Square Garden this weekend.
A spokeswoman for the New York City Mayor’s office, Dora Pekec, confirmed this BBC that a permit was submitted in early June to close the roads around the arena from July 2 to 4.
If you check the MSG website, there will be no public events until Bon Jovi on Tuesday, July 7.
The New York Times echoed this, but did not state that the event is a wedding, instead suggesting that it is a celebration related to the couple’s nuptials.
They wouldn’t be the first celebrity couple to marry at the Garden, with Kathy Silva and singer Sly Stone tying the knot there in 1974.
Crews were seen unloading trucks with signs reading ‘Garden Party’, as well as a box labeled ’40-inch mirrorball’.
Fixtures, lights, and more are housed inside the venue, though most are disguised with wraps and boxes.
What data was there?
While the Cruel Summer hitmaker has said she doesn’t give away Easter eggs in her private life, that hasn’t stopped fans from digging into all the clues they can.
So what does this really have to do with Taylor and Travis? Well, the NYT report said New York street closure permits had been filed for the couple.
It was also reported that some of Travis’ Kansas City Chiefs teammates have booked hotel rooms nearby.
Taylor’s friends and associates Ed Sheeran, Sabrina Carpenter and Aaron Dessner have too all have been seen in the New York area.
Travis himself was spotted for a run in Tribeca, but the Betty singer has yet to make an appearance, though TMZ reported that her private jet had landed.
The timing is also odd, as her final single Independence Day in 2023 was just before she played Arrowhead Stadium on the Eras Tour.
She wrote: ‘Happy belated Independence Day from your local neighborhood independent girls. See you tonight, Kansas Cityyy.’
Fans have pointed out that the sentimental Taylor may have wanted to honor the date she played on Travis’ turf, where he saw her for the first time a few days later.
Metro Taylor Swift expert Danni Scott’s verdict
My sources have been extremely tight on this, but at this point, the likelihood that Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce are holding part of their wedding at MSG is very likely.
While it may seem odd or even ‘adhesive’ outside choice, for a high-profile celebrity, actually makes a lot of sense.
MSG has security capabilities that most wedding venues could not even dream of, boasting an underground VIP entrance and complete control over who can enter.
It’s clear from her Eras Tour documentaries that Taylor was shaken by the bomb threat in Vienna, so this added security compared to that of other celebrities like Dua Lipa and Callum Turner would make sense.
If you have an unlimited wedding budget, why not choose an iconic arena – which she has played many times – and transform it into a romantic location?
The end result won’t be a midfield stage, there are specific event rooms like the 500-capacity Infosys Theatre, or if she’s really building a castle, it certainly won’t look like MSG.
I’ll bet that the actual ceremony may take place (or has already taken place) elsewhere, at a private party for a select few of the couple’s inner circle.
However, we all know that the best part of a wedding is the reception.
MSG may be about to host the biggest party, filled to the brim with famous faces the world has ever seen. The real question is who actually received an invitation?
If that didn’t convince you, a source told TMZ that ‘a massive castle’ was being ‘built inside a garden’ at MSG.
According to the unnamed insider, the country is turning into a ‘complete fairytale’. It’s a love story, and Taylor has never tried to play nice.
Could it be fake?
The slightly odd choice of venue has left many fans wondering if the couple is trying to fake the crowds so they can sneak off to tie the knot.
A fake marriage might seem extreme, but Taylor has built her career by leaving little clues and puzzles for fans, so many think it’s just too obvious.
RoseMarie Terenzio, who previously served as chief of staff to John F. Kennedy Jr. and orchestrated his secret marriage to Carolyn Bessette, agreed that it might be a sham.
“I don’t think it’s going to be at MSG,” she said while on CBA Mornings, suggesting the pair could leave a false paper trail.
She said they would make all the arrangements ‘over the phone or in person’, possibly ‘showing up in person at each person’s place’ to ensure guests ‘keep their mouths shut’.
Anthony Jabin, a celebrity memorabilia collector, mentioned a ‘hoax’ when speaking to TMZ, claiming he was invited by Taylor.
With guests allegedly signing an NDA, it seems odd that she would then get married in a venue where the staff are wearing Taylor Swift branded t-shirts.
A guy was apparently seen driving a vehicle outside of MSG with a Fearless-coded high-top that read “Taylor Swift Carpenters.” That Easter egg would be a bit obvious for Miss Swift.
Usually, when things start adding up too perfectly, it’s because there’s something else at work, and those Swiftie senses can be tingling for good reason.
It’s just unclear if this is some sort of 1989 Taylor Version announcement situation or if fan speculation will end up more like those pesky Reputation vault songs (aka totally wrong).
What did they say about the wedding?
Until now, the couple have remained completely quiet about sharing details.
While on her press tour for The Life of a Showgirl, she invited some famous friends along for interviews, including Graham Norton and Greg James.
She also said in Heart Radio: “You’d think I was the type of person who would have been fixated on the idea of a wedding my whole life, but I never really thought about what I would ever do or what I would want until I met that person.”
Taylor teased that she’s ‘really excited’ about this new era, meanwhile, Travis said he’s ‘gross’ and that he ‘can’t wait.
Singer Tim McGraw loves Easter eggs and usually wants her fans to be involved in her life to some extent. They’ve been very public with their romance up until now, so there’s no reason to think they wouldn’t tell us about the wedding.
Most likely, fans will get one Instagram post when taylor and travis are comfortable, just like with the engagement.
It will probably fall before the next big event they have to attend. For the music world, that’s MTV The VMAs in early September, the same time the NFL season begins.
This almost certainly means we’ll get an announcement from the couple in September at the latest. Until then, we’ll be careful at MSG.
