NEW DELHI: West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari, who arrived in Delhi for the first time after assuming office, on Friday said people residing illegally in his state would be identified and deported through the BSF to the places from where they are suspected to have infiltrated in the past. Speaking formally to the media at Banga Bhawan, the chief minister also announced that an expansion of his state cabinet would soon take place.
In an official chat with reporters after meeting President Droupadi Murmu, Vice President CP Radhakrishnan, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh, Home Minister Amit Shah, BJP national president Nitin Nabin and other senior leaders,
Adhikari appeared confident of bringing change in the state through what he described as good governance. He said that all the schemes of the central government were now being implemented in West Bengal under his administration which, he added, was fully committed to the development of the state. He further asserted that the Ayushman Bharat scheme will also be introduced in the state.
Adhikari also expressed optimism about securing central funds for West Bengal. “West Bengal will get funds and projects under the Namami Gange initiative and we are fully committed to put the state firmly on the path of development. The agriculture sector will also get budgetary allocations for West Bengal,” he said.
