The Scottish Labor leader is expected to make the big move south to become a minister in Andy Burnham’s government.
Anas Sarwar is to leave his position to rise to the Lords to take up a ministerial post at the revamped Department for Business, Innovation, Science and Trade, chaired by Jonathan Reynolds, according to the Scottish Sun.
The Scottish Labor leader called for the gentleman Keir Starmer to leave the post of prime minister in February.
He hailed successor Burnham for his ‘bold Labor vision’ as he entered No 10 this week.
But the SNP said it would be a ‘horrible sight’ to nominate Mr Sarwar.
The party’s deputy leader, Keith Brown MSP, said: ‘This is a terrible look at Andy Burnham, who waxed lyrical about a new policy and devolved powers – he has just pulled the most undemocratic trick in Westminster book.

“Anas Sarwar led Scottish Labor to its worst ever election defeat, but as is always the case with the Labor Party, there are always low numbers in the House of Lords.”

Sarwar has been leader of Scottish Labor since 2021.

“I’m hungry for the fight ahead and I want to play my full part in making sure this country never ends up in the hands of Nigel Farage and the Reformation.’
Andy Burnham still has some ministerial posts to figure out.
