PMK founder Ramadoss collapses after the Salem rally, hospitalized


SALEM: PMK founder Dr S Ramadoss collapsed on Sunday night after attending a public meeting in Salem and was rushed to a private hospital, where he is currently undergoing treatment.

The meeting was held at Pallapatti in Salem West Assembly constituency, where MLA Arul is seeking re-election for a second term.

The 86-year-old had attended the meeting to campaign in support of the candidate and, in his speech, called on the public to lend their support and ensure Arul’s victory in the upcoming Assembly elections.

Senior party leaders including GK Mani, his daughter and faction president Srikanthi Parasuraman and other functionaries were present at the event.

After the meeting, Ramadoss was scheduled to travel to Muthunaickenpatti to address another public meeting later in the night. After completing Salem’s program, he proceeded to his vehicle to head to the next location.

At that moment, while being helped by party cadres, Ramadoss suddenly collapsed, causing panic among the party workers and supporters gathered at the venue. Immediately the cadres came to his aid as measures were taken for medical assistance.

An ambulance was immediately arranged and he was shifted to a private hospital in Salem. Doctors have accepted him for treatment and he continues to be under medical care.
