Amid growing concerns of a global economic crisis due to the West Asian conflict, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday urged people to use petro products judiciously, stressing that it is the “need of the hour”.
Speaking at an event in Hyderabad, Modi said that imported petroleum products should be used only as needed as they will not only save foreign exchange but also reduce the negative impact of war.
“…today the need of the hour is also to use petrol, gas, oil and such things with high content. We should use imported petroleum products only as needed. This will not only save foreign exchange but also reduce the negative impact of war,” he said..
Observing that, over the past few years, India has achieved a place among the best countries in the world in terms of solar energy, he said, unprecedented work has been done in blending ethanol into petrol.
First, the government is focused on 100 percent coverage of LPG and now, it is focusing on economical supply of piped gas.
The government is also promoting a CNG-based system.
Due to all these efforts, India is facing the major energy crisis in the world, he said.
The Chief Minister was addressing the gathering during the inauguration and foundation laying ceremony of development projects worth around Rs 9,400 crore in Telangana.
PM Modi’s comments came as spec are widespread that there will be an increase in the price of fuel in the country. Earlier this month, days after the conclusion of Assembly elections in several key states, the prices of commercial LPG cylinders were GROWING at Rs 933 per cylinder, drawing widespread criticism from opposition parties.
