It’s also a chance for the night’s winners to eat after a jam-packed 24 hours. There’s an early morning dress rehearsal, a matinee and a red carpet to walk before the awards show begins. That’s why Joshua Henrythe star of Ragtimekicked off his night before the 79th Tony Awards at Radio City Music Hall with tacos from Birria before taking home the coveted trophy for Best Actor in a Musical later that evening.

Its leaders, Joshua Henry and Caissie Levywho won for best actress in a musical, slipped into a private room for a more intimate moment with family and friends. By 2 a.m. all of Broadway had gathered for one of the most beloved parties of the night. Just about every celebrity on Broadway this season was spotted at the 14th Tony Awards After Party at The Carlyle, this year hosted by theater publicist DKC/O&M By Rick Miramontehis husband and merchant Jamie DuMont and Broadway producer John Gore. To celebrate, a massive human-sized cake shaped like the Tony Award statue – sanctioned by the Tony Awards themselves – was displayed on the second floor of the luxury hotel, perfect for selfies. The legendary late-night party featured a disco on the hotel’s mezzanine (Chris Colfer was floating along, now with a paper fan) and a martini bar inside the Cafe Carlyle, curated by Oedipus STARS Mark Strong AND Lesley Manville.
Countless stars from Jim Parsonswearing a white tuxedo, for him Philipps busyin a black mini dress with a giant bow on the back, she was walking with a martini in her hand. Bobby Cannavale had wrapped his arm around his wife, candidate Toni Rose Byrnewhile they were sitting on a bench. Chips in paper cups and bites of caviar flew from the waiters’ trays.
