One person is dead and another is fighting for life after a car plowed into fans at Melbourne Comic Con.
Fans standing outside Supanova Comic Con at the Melbourne Showgrounds were hit by a gray Toyota after it mounted the pavement at 5pm.
Two pedestrians were hit, with one pronounced dead at the scene and the other suffering life-threatening injuries.
A witness, Tom, said Age: ‘I heard a scream and a guy (allegedly) rode the curb at an erratic speed, hit some people.’
The car reportedly made a U-turn and went back onto the road, got stuck and a group of witnesses tried to catch them.
Tom said: ‘He was messy. “I said, ‘You’re not going anywhere mate.’

Tom’s wife is a paramedic who worked on one of the victims for 20 minutes before the ambulances arrived.
Melbourne Police said: ‘Detectives from the Major Collision Investigation Unit are investigating a fatal collision in Ascot Vale this afternoon.
“The police have arrested a person who will be interviewed by the police. The circumstances of the collision are not yet known and investigations are ongoing.
