National Award winner Nawazuddin Siddiqui is returning to where it all began. Ending a nearly twenty-five year hiatus from live theatre, the powerful actor has officially announced his long-awaited return to the stage in a brand new show titled Nakabi.
Before establishing himself as a viable actor in Hindi cinema, Nawaz cut his teeth in live stage productions during his formative years at NSD.
Returning to the theater after all this time is not just another project for him, but a deep spiritual return to where his acting journey began.
“Theater is the place where I discovered myself as an actor,” Siddiqui shared in a deeply personal note to the press.
“It taught me honesty, patience and the courage to stand in front of an audience with nothing but your craft. Returning to the stage after almost 25 years is like coming home.”
although Nakabi is a highly anticipated event for theater lovers, it is even more meaningful for Nawazuddin personally as the show marks the official acting debut of his daughter Shora Siddiqui. The show allows the father-daughter duo to share a live stage for the first time.
“What makes this journey even more exciting is that I will be sharing the stage with my daughter as she begins her acting journey,” he said.
“As a father, there could not be a prouder moment. I only hope that the public embraces him with the same love and generosity that they have always shown me,” Nawaz added.
Talking about the show, Nawazuddin said, “Nakabi it’s a story full of suspense, humor and surprises and I can’t wait to experience the magic of live theater with everyone once again.”
Written and directed by veteran painter Paritosh, Nakabi is presented as a high-octane comedy-thriller that combines edge-of-your-seat suspense, sharp drama and laugh-out-loud humor.
