The outpouring of support from Toronto’s Jewish community at a time of heightened tensions has been heartening, noted both Levy and Perlis. More than 600 local families have volunteered to host athletes competing in the games from countries including “Israel, Ukraine, Argentina, Hungary, Great Britain and Mexico.” However, their goal is to get even more locals to open their doors to foreigners and help accommodate the remaining athletes.
