Houses in and around Hampi were inspected

Hosapete (Vijayanagara district): Houses operating in and around Hampi were inspected on Monday to ensure compliance with the registration requirements prescribed by the Tourism Department. The inspection was led by Chief Inspector of Police S Jahnavi.

The inspection team, comprising Tahsildar Shruthi MM, Joint Director of Tourism Department Thippeswany, Commissioner of Hampi World Heritage Area Management Authority, Ramesh Vatagal and Deputy Director-in-Charge D Nagaraj, directed the five houses near the Hampi Gram Panchayat office to be compulsorily registered with the department.

The officials left the site only after the house operators assured them that they would enforce the rules. The operators were also told not to open the houses until they were registered.

Meanwhile, a departmental officer said the district has only one registered residence in Hosapete. As many as 132 residential homes, operating around Hampi, are yet to be registered, he added.
