Nintendo people
Very interesting comments from Nintendo’s big bossfor the price increase and the lack of games. Well, he didn’t exactly say lack of games, but I think we all know what he was getting at. I don’t think any reasonable person can blame NintendoOR Sony OR Microsoftfor the price increase, since they do not want and are not to blame for the memory crisis.

But the question of whether the lack of news this year for Switch 2 whether it is on purpose or not is difficult to answer. My interpretation is that it’s a mistake, as they wanted to discover things earlier but felt they couldn’t. I don’t really know why they wouldn’t be able to make a quick trailer or something, it was even CGI, but who knows what goes on in the heads of the Nintendo people.

I think the most optimistic reading of what he was saying is that he acknowledges that they haven’t had a very exciting 2026 so far (although they’re unlikely to be upset with Pokemon Pokopia and Tomodachi Life) but they will do better, apparently starting in June.

I would like it if Zelda: Ocarina Of Time Remake it’s true, I’m sure most people would agree, but what I want to see is a new major franchise. You could argue that it’s Pokopia and the new Yoshi game, but I mean completely new characters and gameplay, like they did with Splatoon and ARMS.

Knowing that those are the only major new games they’ve made in the last three generations is a bit overwhelming and I’d like to see them do better.

The usual suspects
Very disappointed to see your review Directive 8020 as I was looking forward to it. I like Supermassive’s interactive movies, but I can see on Metacritic that your score seems to be in line with the more reliable sites, so that’s a shame.

Though once again I’m shocked by some of the other results going on here. Everyone smart seems to have given it between 50 and 70 and yet there are two 95s from sites I’ve never heard of and four 90s. Now, everyone has one opinion but whenever a game is reviewed we happen to see the good sites give a reasonable score and the weird ones you’ve never heard of… don’t.

I won’t name names because we can all see them, but what fascinates me is who is reading these comments? Who goes to a website that gives everything a 90 or more every time? I know people like to hear what they want sometimes, but surely there is a limit?

Of mice and men
I’m one of the people currently saving up for one PlayStation 6. I’ve never saved it for a console before as I didn’t need to. However, since the launch of the PlayStation 5, I’m now a dad and also hoping to move house in the near future, so I thought I’d better start putting some money away every week to give myself the opportunity to buy one when the time comes.

When I started saving this time last year, I also thought if I didn’t want a PlayStation 6, maybe I could invest in getting a PC to play games on. Well that looks even more unreal than the PlayStation 6 right now, unfortunately.

Cashing out
Well, Floodbourne it’s too good to be true, right?

A pirate-themed Suls game from the original wizards is a project that just hadn’t crossed my imagination, but has now crushed me and put me on hold until launch day.

Something that riffs on the grotesque of the Pirates of the Caribbean series would hold up quite well, I think.

I’ve never requested any spells in Inbox before, so I’ll use my token now (unless you count travel time hunting/harvesting dinosaurs for 2000 AD’s Flesh remake, but that didn’t work).

The first draft
I’m starting to wonder if Capcom would ever make a director’s cut of Resident Evil Requiem. I know all games probably have lots of cut content but with that you can tell just by playing it, with the plot twist and the rushed ending, that they changed a lot of things.

I’m not too concerned if there was a merchant in it or not (though the side missions look cool), but I’d like to see how the story would have started and why they changed it. I think the problem is that they were basically going to have another game with Ethan Winters and when they switched, everything else got messed up, but I’m very interested in what the ending would be in particular.

Probably not very likely, but I’d much rather see that than a remake of Resident Evil 6. Or even Resident Evil 0, if I’m being honest. That game was a slog.

Expensive itch
I recently received Borderlands 4, including the Vault Hunter and Bounty Hunter packs. And while all of this wasn’t cheap, I have to say the game is really fun to play and scratching the itch I had after spending several thousand hours on Destiny 1 and 2.

I also like the fact that I can do all the content in single player – I really enjoyed Destiny finding random people to play with for dungeons and raids – often the time and stress of that negated the fun of the actual activities.

I also really enjoyed some of the missions/characters. Some have been really fun (for example, rockets with an existential need to explode).

The crafting and build diversity are also great!

So overall, I just wanted to praise the team. Actually much better than I thought!

Early access
There seems to be a lot going wrong lately with companies uploading early versions of games and letting people play them before they’re supposed to. I don’t feel it Forza Horizon 6 ban it was indeed justified, as it was Microsoft’s fault for making the files available.

Of course, it will be very easy for him to overcome the ban, but then there was also the stuff about loading Lego Batman before it was supposed to. Will this new version become about finding a friendly local video game store to sell you a copy early?

ShopTo used to do this when they sent games through the post. Not sure if they sell physical games anymore though, can’t be too important nowadays.

The last combination
I’m not doing it personally, but I’d guess a lot of people are currently saving up for a PlayStation 6, at least vaguely in terms of having a bit of a gaming nest egg ready for next Christmas, when it may or may not all kick off.

But if Sony is worried about PlayStation 5 sales falling at the moment due to its age, surely it will go through the roof when GTA 6 comes out? They already are trying to make people better but there will be so many who never owned a PlayStation 5 before, some who did but sold it, and probably a good number of ultra-casual gamers who haven’t owned a console in ages.

Considering how many people will buy one just to play GTA 6, it makes even less sense to me to expect people to buy an expensive PlayStation 6 next year. Now, die-hard fans won’t mind, and it probably won’t when it comes out now, but the kind of casual person who’s just now buying a console isn’t going to rush out and get another one right away.

I think it’s different audiences, and the same thing happened with GTA 5, which came out right after the Xbox 360, but if you have a problem with keeping costs down and keeping people interested, I would have thought that combining PlayStation 5 and GTA 6 for a few years would be a good idea.

Just in case anyone wants to feel old, but this week is the 20th anniversary of the Wii’s unveiling, ahead of its release next year. Doesn’t time fly?

Just to let everyone know, but the current rumor among the accounts I’m reading is that GTA 6 Trailer 3 is coming out today. I guess we’ll see, but it should be soon…
