May I ask why everyone is so excited? GTA 6? I love the series, I’ve played it all from the original through the PSP versions, and all the modern games, but I don’t think I’ll lose any sleep if I don’t pick it up as soon as it comes out.

All the stories are straight out of old crime movies and the foot controls are terrible.

Hopefully they redo the controls for walking and helicopters. And the shooting.

I’m not anti-GTA 6. I’ll play it at some stage and thanks to the lack of social media I can’t avoid spoilers. I still haven’t seen a minute of it Resident Evil Requiem since it’s been on my to buy list and it’s been out for months. I hope the game lives up to everyone’s expectations, but we’ve been burned before, so my cynical side dominates at this time.

GC: So far, they’ve shown very little of the game, and no raw gameplay at all.

Good time
Well, who would have guessed that raising your prices to ridiculous levels would mean sales begin to drop sharply? I know it’s not their fault they have to raise prices, but what’s the end game here? Normal people aren’t going to want to pay these kinds of prices for a game console, so I really don’t know what happens from here.

Sony and Microsoft should be thanking their lucky stars. GTA 6 came out this year, so more people will be interested in buying a console than normal, but even so, this is the most devastating thing that has happened to gaming in as long as I can remember. And it’s all thanks to the completely useless technology that is AI… which Microsoft has played a huge role in encouraging.

Beyond inflation
Wow, the news Xbox The increase in console prices again is shocking. The Xbox Series S used to be an impulse buy, often available for £199, and will now cost just £400!

I would have thought that Microsoft would have a fire sale just to clear out all the consoles it has in stock, not to completely price itself out of the hope of a sales revival. I didn’t even know there was only a digital one Xbox Series X until I read your news – shows how well advertised it is.

Very bad management
Is it unfair of me to think that Sony announced it Layoffs at Bungie the same time GTA 6 pre-orders opened, deliberately to bury the news? You can’t prove it, but it definitely turned out to be a beneficial coincidence for them.

I think it’s clear that Bungie as we know it no longer exists. They don’t have the staff to make Destiny 3 right now, even if they wanted to, and whatever they’re supposedly working on next has to be very small scale, even if it exists.

It’s a sad end for the creators of Halo and who were for a time one of the most famous developers in the world. I don’t really understand why they weren’t allowed to make Destiny 3, but maybe it would have if they hadn’t made Marathon instead. This seemed like a crazy idea to begin with, but then apparently it’s all down to bad management, so I guess check this theory out.

Pie slices
Maybe I’m missing something, but I don’t understand how Tyler Moon Reader Feature he may be right maybe i’m slow on this but he said the reason GTA 6 is digital only is so they can make more money compared to the disc version. But I don’t understand how PlayStation and Xbox get up to 30% of the sale, which on a £100 game could be as little as £30, so how can Rockstar make more money?

Probably the reason it’s digital only is because there’s a really tight time frame and there’s just not enough time to finish the game and get it printed and shipped to stores. I’ve pre-ordered the Ultimate version and as long as it’s worth the £90 I’m not concerned if it’s digital, disc or powered by a mouse on a wheel.

GC: There is no indication that GTA 6 is on a tight time frame. All games have to pay a licensing fee to the console manufacturer (and Steam), but in addition, if it’s a physical copy, they have to give a cut to the retailer, plus production and distribution costs. So the digital version will always be more profitable.

Empty box
For anyone who collects physical games and ends up buying a box with a GTA 6 download code inside, there is no way that will satisfy the collecting gene. A box with a GTA 6 disc inside will itch itcheven if the disc only contains the unlock code for the digital game.

It makes no difference if the box art and other contents inside it are the same. A box with a code inside and no disc will sit on their shelf, next to all the other stuff, and it will never look right. There will always be that nagging feeling that something is off turned off with their collection.

I used to collect PS1 games; there were about 300, including all the rarities (Castlevania, Suikoden, etc.). All in excellent condition. I decided to trade a part of it. All others are sold. All my Xbox 360 games? Remove the boxes and place them on the CD holders of the cake stand. Any regrets? None, whatever.

PS: Massive savings right now in the Xbox and PlayStation stores on the best shooter/stealth game ever made, in my opinion. Sniper Elite 4: Digital Deluxe Edition. It’s perfection, almost.

All good things
Physical games that haven’t existed in a decade seems a bit obvious to me at this point. They barely exist for some formats and genres already and even the Switch is at least 50% digital now I believe. How long has the computer been digital only? At least 20 years at this point and it has never been more popular as a format.

I miss collecting the actual boxes and owning the stuff, but as another reader pointed out, the boxes don’t have manuals or cool stuff anymore anyway, so it’s not the same as it used to be even if you try to pretend it is. Things have just moved on, not necessarily for the better, but they have moved on.

Perfect remake
So I finally took the plunge over the weekend and bought one Switch 2.

Star Fox is one of my favorite games and the draw was a little too much for me, and the fact that Zelda: Ocarina Of Time is on the way.

I asked for Star Fox from the lady behind the counter before asking for a Switch 2.

If I had envisioned a remake of that game, this is exactly how I would have wanted it to be.

I heard you say the other day that Nintendo left the Star Fox remaster in the hands of a third party and what a job they did with it. It’s pretty much a direct conversion of an almost 30 year old game (which makes me feel old).

Anyway, my question to you guys is, with Ocarina of Time getting a remaster, do we know if it’s been passed to a third party or is Nintendo handling it themselves?

As I think if it was passed to a third party, and this is just my opinion. I suspect it will just be a direct conversion of the N64 classic. Not that I have a problem with that.

GC: Velan Studios is a third party, but Nintendo has worked with them before Mario Kart Live: Home Circuit. We wouldn’t be surprised if Ocarina Of Time was also third-party, but then again, we’d expect it to be someone Nintendo has a pretty close relationship with. However, nothing has been officially said, and in recent years Nintendo has been very slow to reveal the developers of its games, so we may not know for a while.

Gears Of War: E-Day is going to be such a flop and yet it apparently has a $400 million budget?! The Xbox console isn’t available for purchase in some countries, and the Steam wishlist numbers (which are public!) are terrible, so how does this even make sense?

Want to know my favorite part of the Star Fox remake? They didn’t try to get Krystal into it. I hate that character, Katt is so much better.
