The Wednesday Letters site thinks that Fate Of The Old Republic will be a very different game from KOTOR, as one reader argues. The valve doesn’t care about Steam Machine sales.

The red flag
I see Ubisoft is starting to increase marketing for Assassin’s Creed: Black Flag Resynced and I’m not sure I’m buying it…literally. I loved the game back then, but that was a long time ago and Assassin’s Creed has changed a lot in that time, let alone anything else.
It’s strange how it seems like they’ve changed so much and yet almost nothing at the same time. The thing is, I don’t want to be part of the crowd encouraging them to do more remakes. I don’t care Resident Evilbecause they get released often and old games are almost unplayable now. But Assassin’s Creed is hardly in that position. In fact, I’m pretty sure they said they would still sell the old version of the game.
We all know how long games take to make these days, so I really don’t think we should waste five years remaking a game that didn’t really need to be remade. As another reader said, I’d rather have a Black Flag 2 than just a remake. I’m not saying I think the remake isn’t worth picking up – I’ll wait to see the reviews – but I don’t think it’s the worst thing Ubisoft seems to think.

It’s bigger than that, it’s huge
Of course, everyone knows this GTA 6 it won’t fall, but i feel it first day salesand all other sales records, will be even bigger than expected. The pent up demand for it is so great that it could be a completely terrible game and still sell five times more than GTA 5.

It will surprise some players who are enjoying it at the moment, but I think it will break the minds of the normies who usually don’t follow games. Think about it! GTA 6 will be bigger than any movie or TV show, musician or anything that has ever been!
Whether you like it or not, there are millions and millions of people who will buy it the moment it comes out. I don’t think the internet or the human mind will be able to survive.

Steaming
I think it’s pretty clear that Valve doesn’t care how much they sell The steam engine or its controller. Since they make more money than they know what to do with, all their gear and VR stuff just seems to be Gabe Newell’s pet project, not a way to make money
Normally I would say that was a good attitude to have, but not bothering to pre-order and not looking out for scalpers is a pretty terrible way to treat your potential customers.
Say what you will about the Switch 2 but Nintendo tried their best to make sure there were enough consoles to go around and have done everything they can to not raise prices due to fees. They promised that there would be enough at launch and it was. I think it’s clear that won’t be the case for the Steam Machine.

On a vacation
I’m curious to see what it is this year Call Of Duty it will be and that surprises me. I don’t think I’ve ever heard a company apologize for a sequel before, but Activity did last year and I’m fascinated to see what they will do to try to win back the fans.
I don’t know what changes they could have made in just one year, but I’m willing to give them a chance. I didn’t buy Black Ops 7 and I haven’t played any Call Of Duty this entire generation, but that doesn’t mean I couldn’t be tempted again.
A lot of people make these grand gestures about how they’ll never play a game, but especially with something like Call Of Duty, or a live service game, it’s easy to walk away for a few years and then come back later to see what they’ve done to improve it – or not.

Summer shopping
I could see GTA 6 selling more than 25 million in the first 24 hours, I really could. If they are going to start advertising the game in the summer, which could be around June 21st (the first day of summer) at the end, it means pre-order now.
This is a good time for two months for people to save up and buy it. They need to do 25 million in pre-orders in just 24 hours. I mean, I have almost £150 in my PSN wallet and I’m waiting for the pre-orders to go live.

GC: June 21 is the summer solstice, which is the beginning of the astronomical summer. Meteorologically, summer starts on June 1 and lasts until the end of August.
Return of the Jedi
I hope so new game Knights Of The Old Republic it works, but I’m wary because these developers who are made up of people who left to start their own company don’t seem to accomplish anything. None of the ex-Bungie stuff seemed to work and I’m worried about the guys with their non-Witcher game.
But assuming all goes well, there’s the fact that the game is billed as an action RPG, which the original was absolutely not. It was an old-fashioned, turn-based game, which is exactly the kind of thing people don’t do anymore.
I’m not surprised that it’s not the direction they’re going, but it does make me wonder how similar it will really be, especially since it seems to be quite a time-lapse. I suspect, based on the teaser, you’ll only be controlling one character, and not a party, and that’s already frustrating because the original was good because of how many different people you had on your team.
None of this is to say that I think it will be bad, but I think it will be very different. 23 years is a long time, and what worked then wouldn’t work the same way again, which is just one of the many reasons a remake always seemed like a doomed idea.

Artificial art
I see Disney movies are laying off 1000’s of people from concept artists to designers to replace with AI. It’s really not a good time in movies and games and unfortunately it’s only going to get worse.
I fear that everything will look the same and become sterile, without the beauty and imagination that a person brings.

The horror of the future
Nice feature in sci-fi horror gameswhich I would like to see more of. I have a hard time taking ghosts and vampires and whatever seriously, but I think we can all see that reality is very quickly approaching science fiction, and that in itself is scary, especially considering that it’s all the dystopian hellscape stuff that’s coming true — not the Star Trek utopia.
We’re maybe just years from robots being openly deployed on a battlefield (they’re probably already stealthy) and then we’re at the point where Terminator 2 is becoming a documentary, and that’s something you couldn’t say with a straight face a few years ago.
I would also like to give a clear recommendation for Soma, which was on your list and is exactly what I am talking about. It’s very scary and seems strange at first, but less so the more you think about it.
I haven’t heard anyone talk about it on these pages, but there is actually a ‘spiritual successor’ to the Soma coming out this year. It’s called Ontos and it’s set in a hotel on the moon, which is another thing that’s suddenly become a lot less fantastic than it used to be.
It doesn’t have a date yet, so it could be delayed, and it’s described as a ‘psychological thriller’ rather than a survival horror, but hopefully it’ll be a good one.

Every time I remember that PlayStation VR2 is a depressing thing. What a waste of money that was. I sold it but got less than half of what I paid for it.

I was watching a friend play World Of Warcraft and I’m honestly impressed that they’re keeping the same graphics they’ve had since 2004. I know any PC can play them, but it’s like going back in time to the N64 era.
