Five members of the family were found dead in Chhattisgarh’s Raipur; the police suspect suicide


RAIPUR: In a shocking incident, the bodies of five members of a family were found late on Saturday in a rented house at Sanjay Nagar in Raipur.

The discovery sent shock waves through the local community.

According to preliminary data, the police suspect that the family members died by committing suicide by consuming a poisonous substance. However, officials stressed that the exact cause of death will be confirmed only after postmortem and forensic analysis.

A Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) team was called to the scene to collect vital evidence. The Raipur police secured and sealed off the place to preserve crucial evidence considering the gravity of the case.

The deceased has been identified as the head of the family, Syed Sajid Sajju (50), his wife Rabia Bano, their 20-year-old son Syed Irshad Ali and two daughters, Shahina (17) and Shaba (15).

The head of the police station in Tikrapara, Rajesh Marai, stated that the family lived in a rented apartment. Police are currently inspecting the scene, analyzing local security camera footage and examining household items, documents and mobile phones to determine the circumstances that led to the incident. Investigators are also talking to neighbors and acquaintances to learn more about the family.

As news of the deaths spread, a huge crowd gathered at Sanjay Nagar. Local residents were shocked by the tragedy. Police have appealed to the public to refrain from spreading or believing rumors while investigations continue.

Further legal proceedings and action will be taken based on the post-mortem and forensic findings, police said.
