Los Angeles: England’s World Cup last 16 match against Mexico on Sunday could be moved to an earlier start due to the risk of storms and flooding, a source close to the arrangements said.
Soccer’s world governing body FIFA is believed to be holding discussions about moving kick-off to the Estadio Azteca due to the risk of extreme weather.
The match is scheduled to start at 18:00 local time.
Reports in Mexico say the match could be moved to noon local time.
The start of Mexico’s last match, a last-32 victory over Ecuador at the Azteca on Tuesday, was delayed by an hour due to torrential rain.
