Emmerdale has officially confirmed that Patsy Kensit is returning to ITV soap as Sadie King later this year.
The actress, who is 58, joined the cast of the series in 2004. Her character Sadie is the ex-wife of Jimmy King (Nick Miles).
Sadie’s ruthless ambition and cunning demeanor fueled many dramatic storylines. Some of her most iconic moments include a hookup with Robert Sugden and Cain Dingle, plus a house explosion.
One of her most memorable stories saw him deliberately drive a wedge between Dingle Charity (Emma Atkins) and patriarch Tom King upon learning that the now owner of the Woolpack was set to marry into the family.
When Tom breaks things off with her as a result of Sadie’s interference, Charity gets her revenge on Sadie by starting an affair with Jimmy, recording a conversation with him as he admits to Sadie’s schemes on a VHS tape, which Charity shows to the whole family.
The character left the village in 2006 after being double-crossed by Cain. He stole some ransom money and chose to leave Sadie behind.
The exact details of Sadie’s return to Emmerdale are being kept under wraps at the moment, but show producer Laura Shaw has confirmed that the character will – undoubtedly – create plenty of drama when she arrives.
“We are absolutely thrilled to welcome Patsy Kensit back to the cast and crucially to see the iconic Sadie King. storm back to the village. Her return will be explosive and guaranteed to shock.
“Sadie’s seductive demeanor, combined with her utterly ruthless nature, will bring a spectacular and highly dramatic touch of class to the Yorkshire Dales.”
Patsy added: “I’m really excited to be returning to Emmerdale. I treasure the years I’ve been here before. Sadie King is a character I really enjoyed playing.
The cast and crew are absolutely brilliant and I’m so grateful for the opportunity to be back on the show, it’s absolutely amazing.
Patsy has a multitude of television and film credits. In the soap world, she played Faye Morton in Holby City and recently she has portrayed Lola Pearceand (Danielle Harold) mum Emma in EastEnders.
