Denise Fox (Diane Parish) has promised that it will be ‘for a long time’ after her loved ones find out her diagnosis with acute myeloid leukemia.
The hairdresser, as viewers will remember, was then left worried about her health experiencing repeated bouts of fatigue and so she decided to go to the doctors.
On the wedding day of Ross Marshall (Alex Walkinshaw) and Vicki Fowler (Alice Haig), she is called to the hospital for a bone marrow aspiration test and learns that she has AML, a particularly aggressive form of blood cancer. that requires urgent treatment.
news knocked Dennis for six but, despite being told the urgency of the situation, she withheld treatment as her nephew Jordan knocked down by a carwanting to be there for Chelsea (Zaraah Abrahams) in her hour of need.
But after Jack Branning (Scott Maslen) had Phil Mitchell (Steve McFadden) urges her to start treatment immediatelyDenise broke down at the Vic earlier this week and confided in her loved ones, revealing her diagnosis.
In emotional scenes on Tuesday, Denise – with Jack’s help – explained to the children that she would be staying in hospital for a month after treatment began, revealing that she had made it a point for them to help everyone at home in her absence, encouraging them to grow up.
Raymond asked if she was ‘going to die’ and Denise was quick to put his worries to rest, telling him that she was going to be around for a long time.
Kim Fox (Tameka Empson), meanwhile, vowed to support D in any way she can, revealing that — should the worst happen — she’ll grow up and be a mother to her children.
In emotional scenes, Kim helped Denise remove her stitches before heading to hospital. The next morning, Denise was delighted to see Libby (Belinda Owusu), who had returned to Walford upon learning of her mother’s diagnosis.
Later, Denise was headed to hospital to begin her treatment, with her consultant explaining the aggressive nature of the chemotherapy, which will give her the best chance of survival.
As the treatment began, Denise looked at a picture Raymond had drawn for her, showing the entire family. Jack was by her side – and it’s clear that’s where he intends to stay as this emotional chapter begins.
