“The day we wrote this song, I actually said, ‘Man, I think John Mayer could really do something special with this song playing solo,'” Wilson says. “From my mouth to God’s ears, the day we were recording the song in LA at Chaplin Studios — John actually owns the studio now — he was there, and we went to his studio and played him some of what we’d been working on, and he said, ‘I’m. Let’s go. Let’s do it now.’ He literally picked up his guitar. He played acoustic on it very quickly, and the next thing you know, he was shredding on his electric guitar. It was a very organic situation. It wasn’t even a plan. Sometimes, I think that’s when things are even more special and turn out better than you imagine when they’re just spur of the moment.”
