Dubai: A wave of hotel renovations is sweeping Dubai this summer, with some high-profile properties either reducing access or banning prime locations as operators move to upgrade assets during the quieter season.

The current cycle is notable for the number of notable names involved, ranging from historic hotels to island resorts and city properties.

Jumeirah Burj Al Arab
The hotel said the program aims to preserve one of Dubai’s most recognizable symbols by upgrading its interior. The phased work will focus on preserving the property’s design while enhancing guest-facing elements.
The project will be led by French interior architect Tristan Auer, known for restoring heritage properties including the Hôtel de Crillon in Paris.

St. Regis, Palm
The hotel said: “As part of our ongoing commitment to providing an exceptional luxury experience, we have embarked on a renovation project.”
He added, “From mid-April 2026, certain areas of the hotel will not be available to guests; however, we continue to offer a considered range of guest experiences.”
The hotel remains operational, although access is restricted in certain areas.
Anantara World Islands Resort Dubai
Minor Hotels said, “Anantara World Islands Dubai Resort ceased operations on April 10, 2026. This decision was taken in accordance with the ownership entity, Seven Tides Ltd., after careful consideration.”
He added, “The closure is the result of a combination of external factors and is not attributable to any single issue.”
The resort was positioned as a private island retreat within the Dubai World Islands development.
Park Hyatt Dubai Creek
General Manager Ersev Demiroz said: “This next and final phase of our renovation has been carefully planned over time, allowing us to improve and elevate the experience while staying true to what makes the property so special.”
The closure marks the final phase of improvements before reopening, with a timeline yet to be confirmed.

Armani Hotel Dubai
Armani Hotel Dubai has closed for a complete renovation, taking one of Downtown Dubai’s most popular luxury hotels off the market. hotel reported
The hotel said: “Commencing April 1, 2026, Armani Hotel Dubai will be temporarily closed to undergo a comprehensive, full-scale renovation.”
He added, “We will create the next evolution of Armani hospitality, one that remains true to our iconic style yet reimagined for the future, as we elevate every aspect of the guest experience ahead of unveiling our renewed vision when we reopen in the fourth quarter of 2026.”
Reservations remain unavailable until early January, according to the checks.

Radisson Blu Hotel, Dubai Media City
The Radisson Blu Hotel, Dubai Media City will close on April 30 for renovations, marking the start of a transition for the property. hotel reported.
A spokesperson said: “From 30 April 2026, the Radisson Blu Hotel, Dubai Media City will close as it undergoes a planned refurbishment.”
The hotel is expected to exit the Radisson brand from 2027, indicating a repositioning of the asset.

Atlantis Dubai
The operator said: “We continue to review our operations in line with guest demand and as part of this approach, a select number of locations have been temporarily discontinued.”
He added that the period is being used to refine menus, improve concepts and carry out renovations across selected outlets.
These closures reflect a broader summer pattern where operators use lower occupancy periods to upgrade properties and prepare for the next demand cycle in Dubai’s hospitality market.
