Bengal police investigate hut as possible crime scene; the accused allegedly took the victim there


An investigation was underway to determine whether the crime took place inside the shed, the officer said.

Incidentally, the preliminary findings of the post-mortem examination indicate drowning before death, which means that the victim was alive when he was thrown into the water.

“However, the conclusion will be drawn after the forensic expertise and the acceptance of the reports of the internal organs,” said the officer.

Investigators suspect the victim was unconscious from his injuries before jumping into the pond. Police said they are examining the presence of water in the lungs and stomach, as stated in the preliminary post-mortem report.

The three accused left the area separately after allegedly disposing of the girl, he said.

The body of the victim, who had been missing for a day, was found stuffed in a sack in the Surjyapur Haat area on Sunday, sparking a protest by locals who blocked the Baruipur-Joynagar road, burnt tires and damaged several police vehicles, demanding the arrest of the accused.

A few hours after the girl’s body was found on Sunday, a the man was beaten to death by angry locals suspected of being involved in the victim’s death.
