A leaked screenshot from one Assassin’s Creed The spin-off has prompted a statement from Ubisoft and, inadvertently, a potential new Worms game.
WHEREAS Assassin’s Creed Black Flag resynced AND Assassin’s Creed Hex are the main games fans are excited about from the series, Ubisoft is also preparing several spin-offs to expand the franchise.
One of them is a mobile game called Assassin’s Creed: Jade, but the other is the multiplayer title Assassin’s Creed Invictus. The latter was DESCRIBED as a round-based knockout game similar to Autumn boyswhere players battle in arenas based on classic locations from the series.
Invictus received some attention recently after one the streamer claimed an early test of the game was ‘terrible’, but the same leaker has now posted a purported screenshot, which has caused quite a bit of controversy.
In a post on Xexplorer xj0nathan, who previously reported on behind the scenes changes on Hexe, shared a water-edited footage from the game’s private test, showing a killer character in some sort of gladiatorial arena.
“A large part of the game is still untextured, so don’t be surprised by the big gray blocks – it’s really just to give you a glimpse of what the game looks like now,” he wrote on X.

This prompted a response from the official Assassin’s Creed X account, which described the image as ‘misinformation’. In response, Ubisoft wrote: ‘Nice try… This may have started as an image from our private test, but has been heavily altered (most likely with it). It is not good to spread misinformation.
“For those really curious about the project: we’ll share more when the time is right!”
However, this rebuttal prompted an angry backlash from xj0nathan, who claimed he had ‘only used AI to remove the watermark and improve the image quality’ and to change the color of the character’s suit. “The game looks 99.99% like the screenshot, sorry guys,” he added.
To prove his point, the publisher posted the allegedly unedited image, which looks virtually identical to the first, except for the changed colors of the costumes.
Why he would want to change the colors, or anything about the image, isn’t clear, but enough confusion has been created that Ubisoft has managed to sidestep the issue of the display not looking very good – no matter what color the character is wearing.
In the midst of all this internet bickering, a leaker named EvilLeeker responded to the Invictus leak with a purported screenshot from a new Worms game, wonderfully named Project Arrakis. The account has no history, so take it with a grain of salt, but the screenshot seems to indicate some sort of 3D grid-based login.
‘No (Assassin’s Creed) but I want to join the leaks so go crazy (new worms),’ they wrote alongside the images, one of which shows a supposed Steam page.
The last console Worms game was the 2020 spin-off Worms Rumble, which was a 2.5D action game. However, the last classic turn-based entry was 2016’s Worms WMD
A clash of alleged leaks between Assassin’s Creed and Worms is not what we expected to wake up to, but the combination is so strange, we’re inclined to believe that there is some action in the latter.
