Pixar’s latest movie PogoNow showing in movie theaters, And it’s great.Truly. It’s funny, surprising, touching, and Everything you want in a Pixar movie or any particular movie There’s nowhere better than a semi-spoiler moment early in the story.
The timing was shocking, so out of place, so chaotic. that the film’s director, Daniel ChongSure they’d cut it. This is a Disney movie. In fact He also came up with a simpler, less shocking version. Fully expecting him to change to a new version. But that didn’t happen. (Slight spoiler for. Pogo below.)

The time period in question is Which is the moment I chose to reference vaguely in my review.is when the queen of insects voiced by none other than Meryl Freaking Streep, is flying past our main character, Mabel. Mabel is a human in the form of a beaver. Feel the queen flying through you and gives her a quick, instinctive squeeze. It’s violent, sudden, and hilarious. It’s also the defining moment of the film. Because the Queen’s death established the role of her son Titus, voiced by Dave Franco.
speak with slash filmChong explained that although he liked the scene, he was ready to let it go. “I remember after the first screening or the second screening … we were like, ‘You know what? There was no chance we could get away with doing this, so we better change it immediately so we don’t get this recording and get screwed later,” Chong said. “So we recreated it for the next screening. And we just let the Queen Insect die on her own. And then there’s the scene where Mabel and (Mammal King) George looked like they were going to kill her. But she didn’t.”
It works with the story but doesn’t quite have the same impact. Pete Docter, head of Pixar and director of up, inside out, and monsters Inc, as well as Andrew Stanton, director of Find Nemo, Wall-E, and that is about to happen Toy Story 5.
“Pete Doctor and Andrew Stanton were really mad at us,” Chong said. “They were like, And we were like, ‘Well, we thought, ’cause this is Disney. So we think… ‘ and they were like ‘No! Put it back in And we were like, ‘OK, but promise not to change this.’ ‘We’re going to fight for this.’ So those guys stayed on board. We are the ones second-guessing ourselves.”
Whether viewers enjoy that moment as much as me, the Doctor, and Stanton remains to be seen. We’ll find out after the film’s release weekend. But it was nice to see them realize that that moment was a perfect example of what makes it happen. Pogo Very special, now in theaters
