Leigh-Anne Pinnock addressed to her friendship with Jesse Nelson in rare comments following Little Mix’s split.
Two former The X Factor the stars have been they are rumored to be at odds as Jesy, 34, laughed as Nicki Minaj poked fun at her former bandmate during a now-infamous live stream in 2021.
However, Leigh-Anne, also 34, has now voiced her support for the ‘incredible’ Jesy after the Boyz singer’s twins were diagnosed with spinal muscular atrophy (SMA).
On The Smallzy Show, she said that she and her bandmates Jade Thirlwall AND Perry Edwards “Of course” everyone got to Jesy when the news broke in January.
“I think she’s really incredible for spreading this awareness,” the Don’t Say Love singer said of her former bandmate’s struggle.
jealousy welcomed Ocean Jade and Story Monroe Nelson-Foster prematurely last May with him partner at the time, Zion Foster.
The twins’ diagnosis means they will never regain strength in their necks and will not be able to learn to walk, with Jesy revealing they are likely to have a shortened lifespan.
She has been campaigning for SMA screening to be included in the heel prick test at birth, as the girls’ symptoms were not noticed until they were six months old.
Leigh-Anne, who welcomed her twin daughters in 2021, claimed the group will “always be there if we need each other”.
She continued: “Especially obviously with me, Jade and Perrie, we’re super, super close and I think you need that in this industry.
“Knowing that you can reach out to people who are going through it too — we’re the only ones who know exactly what that experience is like — so having that is so necessary.”
of rift between Jess and the rest of Little Mix has been a sore spot for all women since her sudden exit, which she grew up in her latest documentaries.
IN Amazon Prime Video show, she shed light on her mental depths health had sunk, which ultimately led to her resignation in December 2020.
She felt that no one in the group ‘cared’ for her, which led to tries to take his life. When he recovered, he decided she couldn’t stay in the group and continue to face such public scrutiny and comparisons with other girls.
The remaining trio learned of Jessie’s choice through a lawyer, and when Jessie asked to discuss it, they asked for a therapist to be present, which she refused.
However, in recent months, as three of the four members have started their own families and all have embarked on highly successful solo careers, old wounds have begun to heal.
Speaking on This Morning in February, Jesy confirmed to hosts Alison Hammond and Dermot O’Leary that all three members had ‘reached out’ with her this year.
“It was nice,” she said. “I feel like it’s very healing.”
‘They’re your sisters, aren’t they?’ Dermot asked.
“Of course!”, agreed Jesse. “We were really best friends and things happen in life; it doesn’t always go the way you think, but three of us are moms now, I think we’ve all had time to heal; it’s been five, almost six years, and I think it’s just one of those things that takes time.’
“Who knows what will happen,” she said the possibility of reunification. “But since they’ve made it, it’s nice. It’s certainly healed a part of me.’
Jesy went on to clarify that she loved being in a band and being with the girls, insisting that her love of performing never wavered.
“For me, it was the constant comparison and scrutiny I got, but from the beginning, I had it. From the moment I was on The X Factor, all the time. And it never left me.
“I really had some of the best times of my life (in Little Mix), but that part never left me, and that was the part I could never get over.
And I just think that sometimes in life, as selfish as it may seem, you have to do what makes you happy, and that wasn’t making me happy inside. If I’d had it any other way, I would have.’
Despite the ups and downs, Jessie has no regrets, as everything has ‘led (her) to (her) beautiful daughters and where (she) is meant to be’.
