The last one laughing the second season has crowned its winner after a dramatic final, but some viewers feel that the runner-up was cheated by the victory.
of hit Amazon Prime reality series – organized by Jimmy Carr and Roisin Conaty – follows a group of 10 top comedians trapped in a room together for six hours, all trying to make each other laugh.
As it says on the tin – the last one to crack… well, wins. This season saw a competitive boost, including Bake Off icon Mel Giedroyc, returning champion Bob Mortimer and prolific presenter Romesh Ranganathan.
It even had a guest spoof appearance by GMB’s Richard Madeley, which tickled the viewers and the contestants.
However, as we entered the final episode, it all came down to the bottom two – dead Sam Campbell and the mess. David Mitchell – in the showdown to end all showdowns. Well, sort of.
In the end, despite pulling out all the stops — including a shared eclair experience — none of them were left dead, according to referee Jimmy.
This meant that the ultimate winner was ultimately decided by counting who had made the most people laugh throughout the series.
So Peep Show legend David was crowned – but his victory seemed hollow to some.
In fact, fans are going so far as to say that Sam should get that trophy, especially since they seem to have seen more than one occasion when David visibly smiled.
‘I just saw The last one laughing final and, although I love David, the rightful winner was Sam.
Who do you think should have won Last One Laughing?
-
Sam Campbell, obviously!

David Mitchell, it was the right call
Dave smiled so many times, Sam never once broke down. Plus, they make a point of making Dianne laugh when it was actually Bob involved (arm wrestling). Really tough on Sam Campbell, ‘user X Perry Spurs has written
“David Mitchell clearly laughed when he and Sam were Lady and Tramping the Eclair,” shared Deacon2025.
“Sam Campbell, you were robbed my love,” said ParisTaylorHolt.
“Sam definitely deserved to win, that man didn’t even come close to laughing or smiling,” Raminta said.
“Justice for Sam Campbell! It was never remotely broken, but it was robbed in the draw,” echoed Ben.
Think Sam deserved to win Last One Laughing. What a great series, feel good!’ Ruthipeggs agreed.
It is not the only discourse that can shock this season, with some complaining about Jimmy’s role as host and others pointing out injustices such as Romeshi’s red card after a laughing attack by him the host in question.
However, David’s win means he will be back for next season, which has already been renewed thanks to his continued success.
Last One Laughing is available to stream on Amazon Prime Video now.
