The Chief Executive in Council has approved the Smart & Green Mass Transit System at Kai Tak (SGMTS-KT), a 3.5 kilometer feeder service connecting the former track to the MTR network.

SGMTS-KT will have six stations with terminals at Kai Tak Cruise Terminal and Kai Tak MTR Station.
Tenders were invited in October last year, with commissioning set for 2031.
The project aims to “strengthen the connection between residential, commercial, tourism, sports and community facilities”. according to in a government press release on Tuesday.
According to the documents, other proposed stations include Shing King Street, Kai Tak Sky Garden, Shing Fung Road Park, Kai Tak Sports Park and Kai Tak Station Square. gazetted last summer.

The government said that “the beneficiary of the franchise must comply with the conditions set out in the environmental permit issued by the Director of Environmental Protection to mitigate the environmental impacts of the works.”
