“Trinamool is making Bengal insecure with its policy of appeasing a certain community. This is not expected from the Trinamool Congress government,” he said, hitting out at Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, who had made a controversial statement with an alleged communal tone during the recent dharna program at the Esplanade of Metro Channel by the state’s last Channel by derolle.
“Everything will be considered after BJP comes to power and no one can save Trinamool Congress. Their days are numbered and now they are at the exit point. Trinamool hooligans who have unleashed a culture on people have bad days ahead,” he said at the packed Brigade.
“There will be a change in the law and order system to ensure the safety of women after the BJP comes to power in Bengal and that is Modi’s guarantee,” he said, referring to incidents of alleged sexual harassment of women by Trinamool Congress leaders at Sandeshkhali and RG Kar Medical College Hospital in the state.
“Incident of rape has also taken place inside the college premises. But in all these cases of atrocities on women, no action is taken against the culprits involved in such crimes; they are protected by the state government. Someone from the Trinamool Congress has been found involved in these cases,” alleged Modi.
Political analysts opined that the Prime Minister in his speech has focused on the issue of crimes against women in Bengal to appeal to their vote bank at a time when the Mamta Banerjee government has increased the compensation to Rs 1,500 from Rs 1,000 under the Lakshmir Bhandar scheme before the elections.
Addressing the rally at Kolkata’s Brigade Parade Ground, Modi alleged that the Mamata Banerjee government was undermining constitutional institutions and asserted that the “countdown has begun” for its downfall.
“TMC is opposing the SIR so that the infiltrators are protected. They are attacking the autonomous body which is trying to conduct free, fair and impartial elections,” he alleged.
During the visit of the full bench headed by CEC Gyanesh Kumar of the national poll panel to Bengal for two days from Monday, the Trinamool Congress workers had protested, displaying black flags and shouting ‘go back’ slogan against the Kolkata Commission.
Modi also slammed the Trinamool Congress government on corruption issues such as the money-cutting culture and teacher recruitment scams and said, “no matter how hard this ruthless government tries now, it will not be able to stop this storm of change in Bengal”.
