“Painful” to miss the festivities in person
Martinelli has acknowledged the frustration many feel about not being able to physically attend church services.
“We sincerely hope that soon we can return to celebrate together with all of you in our churches. It is certainly painful not to be able to participate in person in the beautiful and rich celebrations of the holy week”, said Martinelli.
He even expressed gratitude to the priests and volunteers for the preparations that have already been completed before the changes.
Stay connected through prayer
Despite the closures, the bishop emphasized the importance of remaining spiritually connected through online services.
“We thank God that liturgies can be broadcast live, allowing everyone to participate spiritually. I invite you to offer the difficulties of these days in union with Christ, so that this sacrifice will bear fruit for the good of the church and for peace in the world,” said Martinelli.
Furthermore, he encouraged worshipers to use this time to “pray constantly for an end to war and for peace and reconciliation”.
