But Gritzewsky can take solace in one important fact: namely, that although her kidnapping can rightly be blamed on the failures of the Israeli security apparatus, once it happened, Gritzewsky’s fellow Israelis – men and women, civilians and military – devoted every available resource to publicizing the hostages’ plight, defending and punishing the plot to ransom them. In short, the entire national hostage community, far from unified on most domestic issues (indeed, quite the opposite), had his back.
