LUCKNOW: BJP national president Nitin Nabin on Saturday expressed confidence that the party would retain power in Uttar Pradesh in the Assembly elections to be held early next year, saying the people of the state would “make the lotus bloom once again”.
Beginning a two-day visit to Lucknow, Nabin addressed the media at the state BJP headquarters after a road show 18 km from the Chaudhary Charan Singh International Airport. He traveled in a specially decorated carriage along with Uttar Pradesh BJP president Pankaj Chaudhary.
Thanking the party workers for the grand reception, Nabin said the enthusiasm among the cadre had strengthened his confidence in the BJP’s victory in the upcoming Assembly elections.
“I bow to this land of Lord Ram, the land of Kashi Vishwanath and Mathura, the land of Lord Krishna. This is the ‘karmabhoomi’ of Atal Bihari Vajpayee ji and I am confident that people will vote for the BJP in the Assembly elections next year and the lotus will bloom in Uttar Pradesh,” he said.
At the BJP office, Nabin presided over an organizational meeting, where he stressed the need to further expand and strengthen the party’s organization. He urged the officials to work continuously to make the organization stronger.
He also asked all public representatives of the BJP in Uttar Pradesh, including MPs, MLAs, councilors and district panchayat members, to spend time in villages and ensure that the welfare schemes of the Center and the state government reach every voter.
Claiming that the Opposition had no real problems, Nabin claimed that it was using negative politics to divert public attention. He urged the party workers to remain focused on communicating the development initiatives of the “twin engine government” and bring prosperity to people’s lives.
Giving what he described as the party’s “victory mantra”, Nabin asked the karyakartas to remain actively connected with their respective constituencies, districts and organizational responsibilities.
“Before you expect others to respect you, if you develop the habit of taking the first step to show respect to others, they will naturally be compelled to respect you in return,” he said.
He also directed the organizational leadership to conduct mandali meetings, district meetings and a meeting of state level officials within the stipulated time frame every month.
Referring to the monthly program ‘Mann Ki Baat’, Nabin said booth meetings should be held immediately after every telecast.
