The revised master plan of DHUDA was placed for approval by the government

Davangere: Minor changes are required in the Comprehensive Development Plan (CDP), also known as the city master plan, prepared by the Davangere-Harihar Urban Development Authority (DHUDA).
The government is ready to approve it after it is reviewed and submitted, Urban Development Minister Yatindra Siddaramaiah said.

He noted this while presiding over the progress review meeting of the City Corporation and DHUDA at the City Corporation auditorium here on Friday. He said that “I have thoroughly reviewed the master plan and suggested some modifications. The plan will be approved from the development perspective after necessary changes are made,” he assured.

Drawing the minister’s attention, former minister SS Mallikarjun said that two years have passed since the master plan was sent to the government for approval. If the master plan is approved, the government will also have income.

On the development of new plans, Yathindra clarified that land should not be taken by force and stressed that projects should only go ahead if farmers voluntarily agree to part with their land. He said that no urban plan should be developed in Hale Kundawada if the farmers are not ready.

DHUDA Commissioner Renuka said, “In 2020, farmers in Kundawada village had agreed to give land for an urban plan, but the process has not reached its final stage. Meanwhile, farmers in Amaravati, Bathi and Harihar have now come forward to give land. Over 22,000 people have applied to the Authority,” she explained, seeking a seat.

‘Unsatisfactory progress’

The minister expressed displeasure over the slow progress in distribution of e-Khatas. He said the government aims to provide e-khata at people’s doorstep.

In response, Deputy Commissioner GM Gangadharaswamy said, “It is true that there is a delay in distribution of e-khata. Some staff are deliberately delaying disposal of applications. Some employees of the corporation have been suspended in this regard. Distribution of e-Khata will be done in a campaign mode.”

Submit proposals for high rise buildings: Yatindra

Urban Development Minister Yatindra Siddaramaiah asked DHUDA officials to submit a proposal seeking the government’s approval to allow the construction of tall buildings above 21 meters in the city.

"Tall buildings are necessary for the development of a tier-II city like Davangere. Currently, the permitted height limit is 21 meters, and buildings cannot be built beyond that. A proposal must be submitted to enable taller buildings," he said.
