Canadians rocked some strawberries that sell for more than $10 a basket


In Quebec, the strawberry market is largely local. Although there are imports, most growers sell exclusively in the province, with some exporting small amounts to Ontario, New York and Vermont. Now at its peak, in May, grocery stores are stocked with greenhouse-grown strawberries from Quebec and Ontario, and imports from California, Florida and Mexico, which generally sell for less than the first domestic strawberries that arrive in the first two weeks of June.
