American comedian Kathy Griffin has joined the cacophony of critical voices Jimmy Fallon for interview Conor McGregor.
The UFC fighter who was found responsible for raping Nikita Hand in 2018 late last year is making a comeback and joined the late-night talk show host in June for a hilarious chat despite his dark past.
For those who do not know the civil case, after rape, Hand injuries included bruises on all four limbs, a bloody scratch on her breast, tenderness in her neck and a possible tear in her vagina from a tampon stuck up so high that it had to be removed with forceps.
She was awarded €248,603 (£206,000) in damages. He claimed that the meeting was consensual and then lost his appeal against the ruling.
The decision to platform McGregorThe 37-year-old was met with outrage from many viewers who claimed it normalized violence against women and continued to allow men to face no consequences for their actions.
TV presenter, 51 years old, has not publicly addressed the reactionwhich has included a fierce repost from Christina Ricci. Now, Griffin — who was the center of an angry firestorm after posting a photo with the President Donald TrumpThe severed head in 2017 – has entered the discourse.
Taking to her social mediashe said: “I think it was a bad call for him to bring in the rapist Conor McGregor… I think Fallon’s people made a mistake by keeping him.
“I think it sends another message to women and marginalized people everywhere that we are not equal and you can do anything to us and the perpetrators will still be out there being praised.”
Like others, she remembered the time when Fallon had on Trumpanother interview that he was heavily criticized for a strange attitude, despite the controversial position of the Republican president.
She reflected that ‘as the most canceled celebrity in history’ it’s time to ‘decide who we’re going to cancel and who we’re not going to cancel’ and concluded: ‘As the kids say, get better.’
Her message was echoed in her caption, where she wrote: ‘Fallon, what message are we sending here?! AND can we please spare the cancellation of people for those who deserve it?’
Elsewhere in her video, she claimed to have been banned from the show itself.
She explained, “I haven’t done the Jimmy Fallon show since it was at 12:30 p.m. ET, so I guess I’m banned from the Fallon show, or inappropriate, or too controversial,” adding that in her case, they “don’t have room for you.”
Although she warned the TV personality seemed like a ‘good man’ when she met him.
Sources close to the show told about Variety that her claims about the ban were ‘exaggerated’.
As for Fallon, it’s been more than two weeks since MMA fighter McGregor appeared on the show, and anger seems to be simmering.
A post Addams Family star Ricci shared on her Instagram stated: “Conor McGregor raped a woman so brutally that the EMT who saw her commented on the severity of her bruises.
“She also had to retrieve the tampon he used when he raped her, having it surgically removed as it was now inserted inside her.
“Why the absolute f**k is this piece of human garbage being given a platform on Jimmy Fallon’s show. Shame on you, Jimmy.’
