“At this time, and through the investigation, it appears that the eastbound vehicle ran a red light,” McCann told reporters Sunday.
At the time of the collision, one vehicle ended up at the intersection of two roads, while the second one stopped on the lawn of someone’s property.
McCann said the passenger of the vehicle traveling on McVean Drive was pronounced dead at the scene and the driver suffered non-life threatening injuries.
The driver and a passenger in the second vehicle traveling on Countryside Drive suffered life-threatening injuries, while another passenger suffered serious life-threatening injuries. The fourth person in the vehicle suffered non-life threatening injuries.
All the victims, according to police, are believed to be men in their early 20s. McCann did not provide further details as next of kin had not been notified.
The Major Crash Bureau is investigating.
