The deal, unveiled during Carney’s trip to Beijing in January, allows up to 49,000 Chinese electric vehicles in a 12-month period at a tariff of about 6 percent, with that quota gradually increasing over time. Before this year, Canada had a tariff of more than 100% on those vehicles.
