A three-year-old girl was crushed to death by a container truck in Bengaluru’s Madanayakanahalli

In a shocking incident on Saturday morning, a three-year-old girl was killed on the spot after she was hit by a speeding container truck at Hanumanthegowdanapalya village in Madanayakanahalli.

The deceased has been identified as Nishchitha LN Gowda (3 years and 6 months), daughter of Lakshminarayana, resident of Hanumanthegowdanapalya.

The incident took place between 11.15am and 11.30am while the toddler was walking to a nearby temple with her mother, Lavanya, and her 11-month-old brother Diganth. According to the police, mother Bhagya carried the baby in her arms while holding Nishchitha’s hand as they walked along the left side of the road towards the Muneshwara temple near their residence.

Police stated that a container truck (registration number MH-04-HY-2203), which was allegedly driven rashly and carelessly, hit the child from behind. The collision caused the little girl to fall and the wheels of the heavy vehicle ran over her head, resulting in her instant death due to severe head injuries.

The driver of the vehicle allegedly did not notice the pedestrians despite the fact that they were walking on the edge of the road. Following the accident, Madanayakanahalli police have registered a case against the truck driver under the following sections of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) Section 281 (Rash driving or driving on public road) and Section 106(1) Causing death by negligence.
