It’s the most juicy affair that may never have happened.
On the night of the murder of abusive monster Theo, Gary was sneaking off on an illicit date with his former flame Sarah Platt? (Tina O’Brien).That is theory doing the rounds with die-hard Corrie viewers. And it seems it may be more than a theory.
As Theo lay on the cobblestones killed by a mysterious assailant, Sara was also on the ground after being attacked by the Independents Jodie Ramsey (Olivia Frances-Brown), because she had caught the evil that was boiling the bunny throwing down the Platts after being thrown out of DAVID (Jack P Shepherd).
Gary and Sarah had a thing going from 2016 to 2019, which finally came to an end when Sarah had enough of the bad boy builder’s descent into crime.
Also, as this downward spiral led to Gary bleeding on his hands. Once he caused the roof of the factory to collapse, resulting in Accidental Death of Rana Habeeb (Bhavna Limbachia)and then killing ruthless shark Rick Neelan (Greg Wood) in self-defense.
Luckily, Weatherfield’s most feared builder has cleaned up his act since hooking up with Coronation Street legend Maria Connor. However, this killer rap sheet honestly makes it more likely that he was the one who caused Theo to take his last breath.
After all, Gary befriended Theo and gave him a job at the construction site. He even defended his former best friend against allegations of abuse Todd Grimshaw (Gareth Pierce), until Sarah sets it straight. Gary can’t stand bullies… but how does he feel about cheaters?
The ex-lovers have been having cozy conversations since the night of Theo’s murder and Sarah’s attack. That night, Gary was eager to stop Sarah’s boyfriend. The Green Kit (Jacob Roberts) by sight CCTV from that night. Mainly because it featured incriminating footage of him destroying Theo’s van with a sledgehammer. This is why Maria gave her husband a false alibi. However, what if that CCTV footage showed more than Gary’s act of vandalism?
While Kit has been away, Sarah has called repeatedly expressing how much she misses him. While she just might be struggling after her attackit can also be a symptom of infidelity guilt.

While Sarah was on the phone with Gerry, assuring her ex that he wasn’t alone and that he would always be there, Jodi was creeping around the house listening to every word. When confronted, Sarah insisted that nothing was going on with Gary. But Jodie was convinced the pair were carrying on behind Maria’s back and promised to keep it a secret ‘for now’.
Hardly soothing. But Sarah may have bigger problems to worry about… starting with Mary. Especially after Maria made a casual comment about Sarah forgetting Bethany’s (Lucy Fallon) and Gary’s birthday went into overdrive with an impassioned defense of his ex. This was the beginning Mary’s suspicions.
Her worries will only deepen in the coming episodes of Coronation Street, when Kit continues to consider Gary a prime suspect in Theo’s murder, Maria finds herself sharing the police officer’s suspicions about her husband’s recent erratic behavior… but for completely different reasons.
When Maria notices Gary and Sarah sharing a hug, while Gary insists that they should delete all their messages, Maria looks at them suspiciously. Can Maria find proof that they are having an affair?
Increasingly concerned, Maria opens up to Fiz (Jennie McAlpine) and Izzy (Cherylee Houston) about how she suspects Gary is having an affair with Sarah.
These suspicions return to Todd, who Todd Sarah about Maria’s concerns that she is seeing Gary on the side. Will Sarah come clean?
Not if Gary does first, when a grim-looking Maria tells him they need to talk. Masking his concern, Gary suggests they meet for a curry later. Is he ready to accept the affair?
