Saskatchewan gets D+ for tackling poverty – Regina


Despite having the lowest unemployment rate in Canada, just over 20 per cent of Saskatchewan’s children are in poverty.

With economic pressures continuing to build, Food Banks Canada says social assistance in the province is not enough to live on.

The Canadian Center for Alternative Policy’s senior researcher on issues and policy says these numbers are not at all surprising, because the government does not have an anti-poverty strategy.
