Tesla on Friday launched the 2026 rear-wheel-drive Y Premium in India, priced at Rs 50.89 lakh. The move comes as the carmaker aims to expand its product portfolio in India.
The launch of the rear-wheel-drive Y Premium in India follows the launch of the company’s second model, a three-row six-seater SUV Model YL priced at Rs 61.99 lakh last month.
Tesla made its entry into the country in 2025, introducing its Model Y at Rs 59.89 lakh.
“The rear-wheel-drive Model Y Premium, a new variant of the Model Y, the world’s best-selling EV as of March 2026, introduces a number of hardware and design upgrades, enhancing performance and interior sophistication,” the company said.
Deliveries of the rear-wheel-drive Y Premium will begin in July 2026.
The vehicle has a range of up to 500 km on a single charge (WLTP) and can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.9 seconds.
Apart from bringing new products, Tesla has expanded its charging network, including superchargers, across key hubs in India as it plans to expand on a larger scale in the country.
It is looking to build charging infrastructure around major hubs – Delhi, Chandigarh, Jaipur, Chennai, Hyderabad, Bangalore, Mumbai and Pune.
Currently, the company has ‘Tesla Experience Centers’ in Mumbai, Delhi and Bengaluru, and a Tesla Center at Sohna Road, Gurugram.
