Price reduction
So there we have it, another massive one Price increase for PS Plus and I have officially reached my limit. There’s no way I’m paying for this anymore, not even on Essential, and if that means there aren’t more players than that. I’ll probably only join for a month when a new multiplayer game comes out, but I’m sure we’ll make it, especially since Fortnite and games like that are free anyway.

As far as I’m concerned, it’s a shame that we’re expected to pay online in the first place. You are not on the PC and yet for some reason on the console you do, even though there are no additional benefits that amount to anything.

I understand that Sony it has to dump customers for everything they have right now due to rising costs and other things not necessarily their fault. I am not here to support a multi-billion dollar company. I will cancel mine nowPS Plus subscription and giving them less money than ever as a result, so I think that has had the opposite result of what they were hoping for. Will be interested to hear if anyone else is doing the same.

Safe secrets
For those who are concerned about GTA 6 preorders I just saw the boss of Take-Two say that the ‘next few weeks’ don’t count as summer. I’m not sure that’s technically true, because June is definitely summer as far as I’m concerned, but to me it reinforces the rumor that nothing is happening until the end of summer. By which I assume they mean late July or August.

It’s funny that no matter how much everything else leaks, almost no GTA 6 rumors turn out to be true. Other than it being set in Vice City and the two main characters, I don’t think we’ve heard anything solid about the game in all these years. This includes price and dates, which is what people are most interested in. Great job, Rockstar. i think

Bubsy is punished
I find this funny Bubsy i can’t even get a good game when a good developer is working on it. I liked it a lot Demon Tides and I felt confident that this would guarantee Bubsy a good game, since it’s basically an IP that you can do whatever you want with it. But no, 61 on Metacritic.

Now I want to see Nintendo or FromSoftware make a Bubsy game and have it still be somehow terrible. I wonder how the curse started? Sure the first game was rubbish, and 3D at that, but there’s been a lot now and even the law of averages can’t help the series. It’s like Sonic taken to the extreme, which was supposed to be the point all along.

A remake 65 million years in the making
Just a bit of info that I think GC and other dinosaur fans will appreciate: recent re-releases of Dino Crisis have seen his franchise lifetime reach 4.9 million, passing Ōkami. This is important because Ōkami is getting a sequel and Dino Crisis… isn’t.

I don’t know why Capcom keep ignoring him, but unless it’s because they have big plans for him, I’ll be disappointed. Although it’s hard to be surprised by it, considering how long they’ve been trying to pretend it doesn’t exist.

I felt like we were close to a full remake not too long ago when they were hinting at it, so I’m not sure what changed that they were suddenly all against. Anyone who hates dinos is at Capcom, they need to go!

From summer
I know we have pirated leak Lately, but I don’t believe this has said anything about when the game will be announced, so I wonder what the chances are of seeing a new multiformat game from next month? The problem is The Duskbloods, which Nintendo will want all the attention, but will they be able to direct it enough to not talk about their other stuff?

I don’t imagine anyone knows the answer to that, but me The Elden ring movie that reminds me of how good that game was I’m experiencing withdrawal symptoms at the moment. Looks like we haven’t even had a decent clone in a while. Sometimes I think games that take five or more years to make are probably not a good idea.

Summer forecast
With the summer showcases coming up, I think we should all seriously consider that they’re going to be disappointing, so that when they are, we at least have a chance to be excited by what little they say.

This Nintendo in particular… maybe we’ll get the rumored Zelda remake, but I’d say it was a very big maybe. Most likely we’ll just get non-events like the rumored Xenoblade Chronicles 2 Switch 2 Edition and port of Devil May Cry 5. If more than one big name from Nintendo is revealed, I think we will do very well.

Xbox I could see Project Helix showing up in a way, but I’m not looking forward to their event as you know how they’re going to go on, pretending they’re this beloved brand and not the richest company in the world that still can’t get games right.

As for Sony, I think it could go either way. They could be doing their usual minimal effort or the latest single-player stuff could lead to them going back to the way things were on the PlayStation 4. However, this sounds very much like the fans’ wish. And while I’m a fan and want it to happen, I’m not exactly going to bet on it.

First day bonus
Not to ask a silly question, but why would anyone want to pre-order GTA 6 anyway? Worried about running out of digital copies? I know it’s GTA and I’ll probably get it day one, but that doesn’t mean I’ll pre-order it. I just don’t understand why people do this for any game.

You often have them brag in their Inbox that they did it and then immediately say ‘I hope it’s good’ or even ‘I don’t know that much about it’. These people must love blind bags.

Even if you accept that there’s basically no way GTA 6 will disappoint, you still won’t gain anything by pre-ordering. Most likely there will be a free t-shirt or something with it, which you will never use, and that’s it. But the company will already have your money, so I can definitely see why they encourage it.

On the contrary
I know I’m apparently in the minority here (and I’m a bit of a contrarian), but as a PlayStation owner I have to admit that I personally don’t care that much about Sony franchises. I play on the console because it’s the box you buy that plugs into the TV and you don’t have to think about it… and the PlayStation 5 is the market leader in that space. When I’m spending hours on classics Elden Ring, Baldur’s Gate 3, or Clair Obscur, I’m not thinking ‘I could be sitting in a man cave at a desk doing this, with a keyboard and mouse like I’m at work’. What else would I buy to play the latest games on my couch without worrying about messing with settings or compromised ports?

I still think (and obviously The valve do too) that there is room in the market for that car. A machine that just comes out of the way and lets you play games in the living room, whatever those games are. I’ve always seen console and PC as different markets for this reason, so confused when readers think “why not just buy a PC”. It’s like telling someone who lives in London and takes the Tube to ‘just buy a car’ because that’s the best way to get around where you live… I don’t know, Kent. Why would they do something that doesn’t make sense?

Also, slightly off topic, but to be honest, Sony’s games mostly aren’t that good, even at the high end of the PlayStation 4. Sure we have Bloodbourne, Astro Bot and Returnal… but so what? Lots of bloated and ‘cinematic’ 7/10 action adventures that would be better TV? Big. Most of them practically play themselves, as if a complex game is beneath them.

Inbox-ka too
I just tried to play Marathon and there weren’t even enough people to get a game to begin with. I’m really worried that Bungie won’t catch up until the end of this year.
Blotter

I have to agree with those who say that Saros is not as good as Returnal. I’m enjoying it, but I wouldn’t say the combat was better, just the same, and a lot of the other stuff, like the worlds and the story, are definitely worse.
