CBI Probe?
A day after Deputy CM Dr Mohan Yadav assured Twisha’s father and army officer brother of recommending CBI probe in the case currently being probed by a Bhopal Police SIT, the state police set the ball rolling on Thursday.
The crime investigation department (CID) at the state police headquarters prepared the draft for handing over the SIT investigation to the CBI, in accordance with the provisions of Section 6 of the Delhi Special Police Establishment Act. The draft, after being signed by state DGP Kailash Makwana, has been sent to the state home department, which will forward it to the central government. This means that the state police has already started the process of handing over the investigations in the high-profile case to the CBI.
While Twisha’s father and brother have from the beginning demanded a CBI probe into the May 12 death, now the lawyer for the accused mother-son duo in the MP’s High Court has advised them to file a writ petition in the HC seeking a CBI probe.
Former judge Giribala Singh is not cooperating with the police
While Twisha’s family has already requested the MPHC to cancel former judge Giribala Singh’s bail, the Bhopal police may also seek similar action in the coming days as she has yet to cooperate with the police to record her statement despite at least three notices from the police to record her statement to help the ongoing police investigations. IT WAS CUT.
Her legal team, however, said that being a former judge of repute, she has deep respect for the law and will certainly cooperate with the police.
MP’s government launches investigation against Twisha’s ex-mother-in-law, Giribala Singh
Meanwhile, the state’s food, civil supplies and consumer protection department has launched an inquiry against Giribala Singh.
In light of Giribala Singh – who is currently the president of the District Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission Bhopal-2 – being named in the Twisha dowry death FIR as one of the named accused, the department has asked the Secretary of the MP State Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission for a detailed inquiry report regarding the 2002. process, tenure, removal/resignation from the post. This move by the state government is being seen as the beginning of the process to remove Singh as the head of the quasi-judicial body in Bhopal.
Importantly, Twisha’s father Navnidhi Sharma on Wednesday wrote to state governor Mangubhai C Patel to remove Twisha’s former mother-in-law Giribala Sharma as president of the District Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission Bhopal-2, pending the completion of investigation and registration of the death case and related proceedings against her. son Samarth on May 15 at Bhopal’s Katara Hills Police Station.
The District Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission (DCDRC), or District Forum, is a quasi-judicial body that handles consumer complaints and disputes at the district level. It operates under the Consumer Protection Act to provide prompt, accessible and cost-effective redress for consumer complaints.
