The family of a 14-year-old girl who ‘brought joy, laughter and light to those around her’ say they are heartbroken after her sudden death.
Keen footballer Adriana Retyte, 14, died in hospital two days after emergency services were called to her family home in Ashwellthorpe. Norfolk.
An inquest into her death, which opened at Norfolk Coroner’s Court in Norwich yesterday, her medical cause of death was said to be hanging.
Adriana was a year 9 student at Langley Schoolnear Loddon, Norfolk, which has rates of £22,860 per annum.
The school described her in a statement as a “very valued and loved member of the school” and said pastoral support was being offered to fellow pupils.
Adriana’s mother, Greta Saggers, 31, said in a post on Facebook: ‘With broken hearts we share the loss of our beautiful Adriana.
“Thank you to everyone for the love, kindness and support shown to our family during this incredibly difficult time.”
Mrs Saggers is managing director of employment agency Norwich Anglian Recruitment and also works as a manager for her husband Ben Saggers’ property company Strand Development Limited.
Her 40-year-old husband is a popular figure at Wymondham Rugby Club, where his firm is a major sponsor.
His company also sponsors Taverham Toucans, an under-14 girls football team where Adriana was a player.
Adriana was found at her family’s modern detached home in Warman Way, Ashwellthorpe, just before 10pm on Friday, May 8.
She was given CPR at the scene and taken to Addenbrooke’s Hospital Cambridgewhere he died on May 10.
A fundraiser has been set up in her memory to support Papyrus – a youth suicide prevention charity – and tributes have poured in following her death.
Sofiia Katrechko said in a post on the appeal page: “It is truly heartbreaking that someone so young, with so much life ahead of her, could be taken so soon.
“I will always cherish the time I spent with Adriana and the fun memories we shared together. She brought so much joy, laughter and light to those around her, and those moments will stay with me forever.’
Assistant Norfolk Coroner Maeve Sykes confirmed at the opening of the inquest on Tuesday that Adriana was born on February 27, 2012, in Drogheda, Ireland.
A full inquest into the circumstances of her death has been scheduled for October 16.
Adriana’s funeral will take place at St Faith’s Crematorium on Manor Road in Norwich at 2pm on May 21.
She was a pupil at Wymondham High before going to Langley School.

“Our thoughts and heartfelt condolences are with her family, friends and all those affected by this tragic loss.
“This is a devastating loss for our entire school community. Adriana was a much valued and loved member of the school community, known for her warmth, kindness and positive spirit.
“She approached her studies with diligence and pride and was respected by staff and pupils for her thoughtful and considerate nature.”
