Owen Hargreaves deleted Chelsea‘s recruitment model fell apart after the Blues were kicked out Champions League BY Paris Saint-Germain.
Liam Rosenio‘s side needed a remarkable comeback after losing 5-2 in the first leg in Paris, but instead went ahead when Khvicha Kvaratskhelia scored after just six minutes.
Bradley Barcola doubled the lead on the night just eight minutes later with a superb finish before Senny Mayulu wrapped up an 8-2 aggregate victory for the Parisians with a second-half strike from the bench.
Chelsea are the youngest team in this season’s competition and their lack of experience showed in both games against the reigning champions.
And two-time winner Hargreaves believes the club must bring some much-needed experience to their squad if they are to really challenge for silverware.
“They already had a culture, this club has been winning things forever under different managers, different regimes, different players,” Hargreaves told TNT Sports after the game.
And they’ve won the biggest trophies – the Premier League, the Champions League – not Club World Cups or anything smaller.

“This club must want to win the biggest trophies. Premier Leagues and Champions Leagues. Right now, they are miles away from it.
“They have signed some great young players, but at the moment they have too many young players.”
He continued: “They need experienced players. All these great Chelsea teams have had world-class experienced players – John Terry, Frank Lampard, Didier DrogbaMakelele, Essien.’
“It’s good to have these young kids, but you have to have experience. The guys who own this club and buy these players have to understand that.
“You can’t have three academy kids in a four against the European champions. It’s impossible, it’s never going to work. 8-2 over two legs. It’s too much.”
Reflecting on the side’s painful exit, Rosenior added: ‘Six minutes and another mistake we make takes the wind out of our sails. I think he scored the second goal from 25 meters in the top corner.
“When you lose two goals so early and five goals in total, it’s a really difficult evening.
“We wanted to fight more than we did. Credit to PSG. Their possession game was really, really good in the game and over the two games they deserve to go through.
“Two and a quarter games ago, we were away in Paris or coming off Aston Villa, a very good performance. 2-2 in the game, but we don’t care about moments, switch off.
“What I have to do is make sure we get it back on track and that comes from not making mistakes or mistakes.
“It’s something that me and my staff have already talked about now, but it’s something I’ll talk about tomorrow and make sure we go into the Everton game with a really positive attitude.”
Chelsea will look to get back to winning ways at the weekend when they travel to face Everton in the Premier League.
