No guessing
I don’t really understand what happened to best buy preorders and how the emails can be real but not happen but somehow i have a very hard time believing that anything is ever happening! At some point I know it will happen, but I have lived a large part of my life without GTA 6 and when it actually exists it will be a shock.
So I guess we’re back to guessing some random day for Trailer 3 or pretending that the next random drop of juice on a new DLC t-shirt is an open clue. The only thing I will predict is that when it happens absolutely no one will have predicted it and it will just come out of nowhere and suddenly GTA 6 will be something you can buy.
I’m going to take a guess though, just for the heck of it, and go with the latest summer rumours. So maybe August sometime for pre-orders to start. Let’s see if I’m more reliable than Best Buy!

The power of nostalgia
So it’s the 50th anniversary of Star Wars next year, so that must mean a new game announcement or something, right? We have two new games this year, with Company Zero AND Galactic Runnerso it’s probably unlikely we’ll get a new one next year either.

It’s been a long wait for the Star Wars Jedi 3 announcement though, so maybe that’ll be saved for the anniversary and a quick release afterwards. I’d like to see something more retro though, given the importance of the date.
Personally, I’d like to see a new port of the old Atari coin-op, but with a VR option so you can sit in a virtual landing cabinet.
If they really want to rock the boat, I’d love to see remasters of other classic games over the years tied to the original movie, like Super Star Wars, Rogue Squadron/Rogue Leader, and Star Wars Arcade. No idea if they would, but I would buy it.

Slow copy
It will be so wild if Nintendo in fact there isn’t a Direct this summer and we’re all wondering even longer. I’d say it would be funny, but I think it would be a really bad idea and, like most people, I really have no idea why Nintendo thinks the lack of notifications benefits them in any way.
If the big game is a Zelda: Ocarina Of Time Remakewhy is it not good to know about this as soon as possible? I used to get the idea that Nintendo liked to keep things secret because other people would copy their ideas once they made them out in the open.
But it was back when you could knock out a new game in a year. Those days are long gone, and there’s nothing a company can do without at least three years’ notice, at least. And besides, how does one copy a remake of Ocarina Of Time? That doesn’t even make sense.

Good rider
Excellent review of Lego Batman: Legacy of the Dark KnightGC. I love playing the Lego game with my girlfriend, so I’ll definitely get that. It’s crazy to think how many Lego Batman games there have been over the years. You wouldn’t think Lego games were that old, but the first one was before Revenge of the Sith came out!
I like Batman so I’m fine with that, but I think it’s time they try something new. All you need is something with lots of characters and a unique world. Considering there are already Lego sets of it, I would have thought One Piece would have been perfect.
There are several Lego Zelda sets, and also now Pokemonso they will probably work too. A game with all or most of the pokemon in it sounds like it would be very popular, although I’m not sure how things would work out in terms of action or collecting.

It happened again
thus Sony it’s raising prices again and it’s not market conditions, it’s greed. What with GTA 6 coming up they want to do it now so players won’t complain and they know once that game is out everyone will be buying a PlayStation 5 or by getting PS Plus for online play.
I haven’t had PS Plus for at least five years; went the other day and saw it was up £60. Last I saw the price was £40. This is nothing but greed. If GTA 6 is coming out on November 19, Black Friday is only a few weeks away and hopefully they’ll do a deal on it, but like I said, greed is the reason and it’s because of GTA 6.

GC: Market conditions are absolutely a factor. No store in their right mind would release GTA 6 eight days after it first came out.
Let him die
I feel like we’ve heard of Sony brings back old PS1 games several times before in the past but it never seems to happen. Most companies, and you see this in movies too, seem to find it impossible to say that a franchise is dead or doesn’t need a new sequel.
I liked Ape Escape and Warhawk and Jak And Daxter back in the day, but I’m not sure there’s anything notable to do with them anymore. It’s been a long time and so you either have to do the same thing again or evolve them into something that is perhaps unrecognizable, which if there had been more sequels along the way would have happened more naturally.
I’m not saying no, but I’d be a lot more interested if Sony said they were going to create new IP, instead of just reviving washed-up games that had their chance. Even in the best case scenario how many hits will there be? I at 4 at most? And how much time and money will be spent to get to the one hit?
Nintendo long ago realized that sometimes a franchise has just gone as far as it can go. There wasn’t a Metroid on the N64 and F-Zero hasn’t been around since the GameCube. They may come back, but only when there is a good reason to take advantage of the new technology.
There will never be any good reason for a new Siphon filter or resistor other than cheap nostalgia.

Klober’s time
I know GC was a fan of Marvel’s Space Invasion and I am too, but it’s a shame the game doesn’t seem to have had any impact and ended up being another example of a Marvel game that isn’t a license to print money at all – surprisingly it’s the opposite.
But anyway, they have announced Cyclops and The Thing as new DLC characters. It was pretty weird that the Fantastic Four weren’t in it from the start, but there it is. I could have done without another X-Men character though. I never think of them as cosmic, even though I know they are.

Be careful what you wish for
It’s fun to think that GTA 6 would be a year old today if it had come out at the beginning of the target, although, as you said, 18 months isn’t really that late considering. I mean, how late is HS2 at this point?
It’s interesting to think about a time when GTA 6 wasn’t the most anticipated game of all time, but something people just got used to. I’m not sure what it will take over from, as everyone is looking forward to, but I’m sure there will never be anything like GTA 6 again, given how long it’s been since the last one.
Even if Red Dead Redemption 3, or something similar, is next, I feel confident it won’t take 13 years for it to come out. In fact, it is quite exciting to imagine a world after GTA 6 because I think there is good reason to hope that Rockstar will release many more games much sooner at that point.
However, all this Roblox-style user-generated content stuff is going to be massive. I guess Rockstar hasn’t officially confirmed it yet, so most people don’t know it’s coming, but it’s so absurd I’ll bet it’s all true.
Roblox but GTA is going to be massive and I actually think between the two, one for kids and one for adults, a lot of casual gamers won’t see the need for normal video games after this. The release of GTA 6 could end up being a bit of a monkey’s paw situation.

I wonder if they will put Krystal in the Star Fox remake. I never liked that character, she was nothing like the rest of the Star Fox crew and was so sexily drawn it was kind of embarrassing.

Forza Horizon 6 seems to have made a pretty big impact on Steam, but imagine how much bigger it would be if the PlayStation 5 version came out at the same time. This seems like a real own goal to me.
