Several people were taken to hospital after a bus overturned in northwestern Alberta


RCMP say multiple people have been taken to hospital with serious injuries after a charter bus went off a highway northwest of Edmonton.

Mounties responded to the crash around 7 a.m. on Highway 672 near Beaverlodge, west of Grand Prairie.

No casualties were reported.

In a social media post, Alberta RCMP say Highway 672 is closed between Range Roads 90 and 92 to allow room for emergency crews to respond.

Cpl. Mathew Howell says there were 17 people on the bus.

He says some went to hospital while others were being treated for minor injuries at the scene.

He says it is not clear why the bus went off the road and investigations are ongoing.
