Spoiled for choice
I have read your recent comments with interest pragmatic AND saros and I didn’t expect them to go the way they did. I knew both would be good, but the Pragmata sounds a lot better than I expected and the Saros looks like it wasn’t actually built Return in the way I hoped.
I really enjoyed Returnal, and I usually do Capcom‘s stuff, so that’s a bit of a problem for me because I can’t afford both right now. It’s unfortunate that two really good sci-fi shooters that are both new IPs (even if Saros is a gray area) came out at the same time, but then this sort of thing seems to happen all the time, both with games and movies.
If they were half the price I would buy both, but unfortunately things don’t work that way and I have a choice to make. It’s a shame that the two don’t seem to have much of a story, but while Saro’s fight sounds a little softer, Pragmata’s sounds more original. Decisions, decisions…

GC: We have to admit it’s a lot closer than we expected, but we’d have to give it to Saro. Regardless of his fault, the fight is absolutely sublime.

Traveling circus
I remember a reader writing a while back about how GTA 6 launch would be seen as the AD and BC of the modern games and I think he might be right. At the moment, GTA 6 seems more like a myth and an urban legend, but at some point it will come out for real and be all we hear about for months.
I mean, if people are sick of hearing about Assassin’s Creed Black Flag resynced lately then I think you will have to go off the grid for a few months from this November. Even as someone who’s really looking forward to it, I’m wary of the circus to come. I hope the game is worth it all.

I know I’ve mentioned it before, but Vampire Survivors Nintendo The Switch, with the Ode To Castlevania DLC, simply has to be the best value for money in gaming, in my gaming. opinion. Still playing it months later.
Ridiculously replayable, always finding new things to do. As soon as Mr. S (he is not to be confused with…). All for less than a tenner and very intrigued about Vampire Crawlers.

This new one Xbox the boss sure seems to have all the executives talking well, but i’m afraid that just means i don’t trust a word that comes out of her mouth. of franchise suggestions it seems quite unbelievable to me, e.g.
The only time in years Microsoft has sold many games is with PlayStation 5 version of Forza Horizon, and there’s no way they’re going to drop that in favor of hoping that Forza Horizon 6 – or any big game – will suddenly convince someone to buy an Xbox Series X or Project Helix.
People buy a console for a lot of reasons these days, and while exclusives are a factor, it should also be the guarantee of a steady stream of them, which you don’t get from the Xbox. Trust in the console and its manufacturer is a bigger factor and I don’t know who would trust Xbox with anything right now.
I’m not saying that trust couldn’t be earned, but the way she’s talking makes it sound like everyone is desperate for Xbox to make it back to the big time, and I’m not sure that’s true.

Crazy suggestions
Can any readers or GCs recommend any games that are similar to Mad Max? I’ve been replaying it on Xbox and forgot how good it really was. Minus the repetitive aspects of course.
A minimal Google search is recommended fury, Border countriesand for some reason Assassin’s Creed. I’m on PC too so if there’s an indie game I might check it out. Any recommendations appreciated.

GC: Many games, including Fallout, are influenced by the Mad Max movies, but the first two you mention are closer to the 2015 game. Assassin’s Creed was probably mentioned because, without the mech fighting, it’s a pretty generic open-world Ubisoft-style game.
Slow update
For any of you who own one Switch 2 and I’m looking for some great and super fast arcade racers to play, I can’t recommend it enough Fast Fusion enough.
Fast Fusion is technically the third game (or fourth if you count Fast RMX on Switch) in a series that started on the Wii. For me Fusion certainly refines the formula to a very satisfying degree, with some stunning futuristic aesthetics, very sharp and responsive steering, and some generally quite imaginative and expertly constructed racetracks, with plenty of challenging twists, turns and environmental hazards to negotiate.
The series is also known for its polarity switching mechanics that allow you to grow pads that correspond to the color on the tracks, which sets it apart from the competition. Fast Fusion introduces a new jump ability that encourages some more adventurous techniques and opens up shortcut possibilities.
The only real downsides for me are the strange lack of an online multiplayer component (though thankfully local racing is taken care of) and, perhaps, that the selection of tracks is pretty sparse. But given that the game only costs £14 and its production values are pretty lavish, plus there’s a hellish lack of quality futuristic racers on the market these days, I can forgive this oversight.
Oh, and it helps that the soundtrack is incredible. But I really, really hope we get some substantial DLC (and online racing) for Fast Fusion soon. It will probably coincide with the game’s first anniversary on June 5.
Also: for the love of Mr. Nintendo, give them the keys to the machine hovering over Shin’en so they can make a worthwhile new F-Zero under your well-known developer-improvement tutelage. Do it now and do it fast! Inbox magic, if you will.

Bad timing
Playing through Requiem got me in the mood for more Resident Evil so I thought I’d give the village another go since I never bothered to finish it the first time.
It’s better than I remember, but the scary thing about it is looking at the trophies and seeing them dated from 2021! Where have those five years gone and I guess we were in the middle of those stupid jams even then – a time best forgotten!

New challengers
I don’t feel like The Elden ring had a negative effect on Elder Scrolls 6 regarding Bethesda need to up their game, because of how awesome Elden Ring’s gameplay was overall. But the contenders that have come out recently, you have to admit, have definitely taken a piece of the pie from the open world role-playing genre.
of Kingdom Come: Liberation games have definitely taken some Elder Scrolls territory over the past few years and threaten them with great storytelling and quest building.
I think the one minute Elder Scrolls 6 year ago tease was just to say it’s in the works and it feels like Bethesda has been quiet lately except for the odd game like Starfield that came out so most of their staff can work on Elder Scrolls 6 as a priority and get this game which is an amazing and wonderful Bethesda game.
Competitors like Crimson Desert, The Witcher 3, Cyberpunk 2077, and perhaps other genres like Red Dead Redemption 2 and Hogwarts Legacy in their own way, are showing how capable other companies can be in this genre of games. So the longer it takes to make Elder Scrolls, the harder it will be to rise above the crowd.
Most of the above are some sort of direct rival, but you can’t forget to include non-word role players and enter the world of sandbox exploration, with a certain title called Grand Theft Auto 6 on the horizon.
Another thing to consider over the next few years is gaming culture in general, as what was popular in the past doesn’t mean it will stay popular! The younger generations are quite happy with a simpler, more indie style of gameplay, and I’ve spent many hours in that market.
I would like to see more Elder Scrolls 6 news and updates as it has a harder fight to stay relevant and I hope that past fans and newer fans are still there and excited to buy their next ticket to the world of Tamriel.
